For those who made AP ressies for Swan and Dolphin...

will you dump your ressies there for an AP rate at a Disney deluxe resort? With rates coming out shortly I was just curious how many will hop on the other bandwagon.

I don't have reservations at S/D.....but since it seems as if AP rates are pending at WDW I'll wait to decide until I know all my options. I'm assuming that at least some people will drop their S/D reservations in favor of their first choice....though as of just a couple days ago there was still availability for the date I need at that rate so I'm not worried about not having that option. We had been strongly considering the Contemporary....so I'll see what the available rates are and decide then.

I bet a lot of people will just keep their great deals at S/D too though! I doubt any of the deluxe resorts will be able to offer rates quite that low.

If I can get the AP at the Contemporary, I'll do that for part of our time, but I'm also going to keep part of my reservation at the Swan so that I can take advantage of the late check-out time of 4:00 pm on the last day. Our plane leaves at 6:00, and that way we'll have a hotel room up until the time we have to leave.

ABSOLUTELY NOT !

I switched from the Poly to the Swan because I felt Disney handled the entire issue very badly.

Despite all the speculation on the boards as to why Disney did what they did, I still have no idea why they chose to alienate so many customers.

Whatever the reason it was terribly poor customer relations.

I moved to demonstrate my disatisfaction with their policy. And I have no intention of switching back at this point.

The Swan obviously wanted my business and was willing to vie for it.

I have been staying onsite for almost 30 years, and paid rack rates every time except my last trip. But if the Swan turns out to be as wonderful as the reports indicate, Disney has lost this customer permanently.

I also do not think that Disney will be able to offer rates as good as the Swan and Dolphin. Also, both resorts have been or are in the process of what seems to be wonderful renovations which all here on these boards have raved about.

With a Deluxe - depending on your resort and your luck you could still end up with a shabbier room for more money. I will stick with the Dolphin for now - unless these new rates are just unreal.

Bete -- Interesting that you should ask, since my dh and I had this very discussion last night after seeing that AP rates may appear on Thursday.

We're booked at the Swan for our December trip and we've been very happy with our choice, but last night we started wondering if we were going to switch.

Our final decision (as of last night!): we're sticking with the Swan. The heavenly beds, beautiful new room decor, and the fantastic location all sound great and we want to try somewhere new this trip after staying at the fabulous AKL this past January.

And to think, a few weeks ago, we'd picked WL for this trip. :D

BTW (somewhat off-topic, sorry), I noticed that our confirmation at the Swan does not indicate late check-out, which we were supposed to have. Now I'm wondering if I should call to check on this or just leave it until we check in.

--miffy--

I'll stick with the Swan. If AP rates at the other resorts had come out before, I might have booked elsewhere. I've always wanted to try the Swan or Dolphin.

:D Just thought I'd let you know that over here in the UK, this is the most common way of spelling the girl's name, but the male version is Leslie :D

My DH and I have already decided that we are sticking with the Swan. The staff at the Swan who I have talked to on the phone have been exceptionally nice, it is at a great location, and I hear that the heavenly beds are the best. And, most importantly, while Disney left AP holders hanging and hanging and hanging, the Swan and Dolphin published their rates (which I feel are very reasonable) months in advance so that people knew exactly how much they would be spending on lodging and could plan their trip accordingly. If we enjoy our stay at the Swan, Disney has just lost a customer. For last 10 years or so, my DH and I have always gone to WDW at least twice a year for a minimum of 7 nights per stay and we stay at a deluxe 95% of the time.

I was only able to get half of my reservation at the Swan at the AP rate and it has come out than more then I was ready to spend so I may change my reservation to save $, I would like to stay at the Swan but I don't know that it will work out.

I couldn't get one of the nights I needed at the Dolphin so I will probably go Disney this night and maybe one more-just so I don't have to check in 2 days in a row. Otherwise, I don't see a big reason to change the bulk of the vacation nights.

Disney took to long for AP's in OCT so here we come SWANIE how I love ya , how I love ya , my dear old SWANIE

PLUS a 4 o'clock check out so we'll have a room if BWV rooms aren't ready Sunday morning

We'll stay with the Swan - Queen Heavenly beds, and location, location, location! The late check-out will be nice too!

Are the AP rates at the Swan better that AAA rates? Would it be worth it for me to purchase an AP (already an AAA member).

Hi, Doris!! I think you are the first person I've seen on here from Louisville, other than myself!

I don't know how much the AAA rates are, but, you can check AP rates for the Swan here . You simply need to imput your dates.

Keep in mind that the AP rate includes an automatic room upgrade (1 level) and a late check-out.

(Seems the powers that be ask some people of the DIS which they'd rather have--late check-out or the free upgrade--prior to implementing the AP rate. When we got greedy and said we wanted it ALL, they gave it to us! That's just the kind of person Mr SwanDolphin is.....).

I never stay anywhere other than the Swan or the Dolphin. If I can be of any help to you in planning your stay at this great resort, let me know.

Again, it's great to finally see someone else from Louisville hanging around here!

I haven't seen anyone from Louisville either. Found 1 from E-Town. Boy are you the person I need to talk to. :teeth: On the DU site, it will not allow me to put in 3 adults and 2 children in 1 room. I did put in 2 adults and 2 children in club level and got the cost of $212 (before tax). I AAA rate price I'm getting for 2 adults and 2 children is $237 (before tax). I did this just for comparison I actually need ressies for 3 adults and 2 kids. Is AP rate is the same whether I book thru DU or direct thru Swan? Okay, what about this auto upgrade? Is this automatically based upon availability? I currently have a reservation at the club level getting the AAApro rate plan. If you are a AAApro member you get an auto upgrade based up availability. I called Starwood reservations and asked them about this and was told that since I have already booked club level that it would be unlikely that I would get upgraded. I asked if I booked traditional would I be upgraded to club and she said probably if there was availability. This just doesn't sound right to me. What do you think? Okay, where do you get your hopper passes? I'm wondering if it would be beneficial for me to get 1 AP (to get AP rate and restaurant discounts) and the others either UHP or HP. What do you think? Do you drive or fly to Florida? I will be flying and the other 4 will be driving.
