For those who have stayed in the Grandstand section...a few questions?

Is there anything you didn't like? What did you especially like/love? Would you stay there again? Did you stay in a studio, 1 br or 2 br? We are staying in a dedicated two bedroom for 5 nights then switching to BWV for 3 nights. This is our very first DVC stay.....so is there anything I should know if we do indeed get our request to stay there in two weeks Thanks.

We were in the Grandstand last May and absolutely loved it!
We were in room(s) 8545 & 47, a studio and a 1-br (not at the same time, though); we had to move because it was an "impulse" trip and those were the only available villas for our stay. Each villa faced the golf course, the canal beyond, and the tent tops of Cirque du Soleil. It was peaceful and felt very secluded, and yet we found it even more convenient than the Springs villas to the Carriage House area, including the DTD launch. :thumbsup2
I understand that not all the GS buildings are that close, but to DH and me, that whole section is still great (and gorgeous!).
Being the first stop to the parks (going and returning) is an added bonus, and on any future stays at SSR, we will BEG to be put there (golf course view, of course)! :goodvibes

We just returned from the Grandstand section room 8234, a 1 bdr. villa. We loved everything about that section. The pool was great with the bar and refill station. Close to the Springs for eating at Artist's Palette and using the big pool with slide. Only took us maybe 2 min. to walk over to the Carriage House.

We would definitely stay in that section again.

Enjoy your trip.

The GS is terrible, never never stay there, they have a awful pool right in your door, its way to convenient to everything and its got that stinky new smell to it.

So true! You don't want to stay there! We stayed there last April in a 1 Bedroom. We were literally steps away from the pool, and Carriage House. It was horrible! We had a rotten view of the golf course and could even see the water where those ridiculous boats go by.;)

They even showed movies at the pool during the evenings. The nerve! Really, you shouldn't bother staying there, let those of us who have already been scarred take on the burden of staying in the Grandstand for you.;)

Also, the busses. The GS is the first stop when you return from a park  . It is also the first stop when you go to a park:sad2: . We would walk over to the Springs bus stop and get on as it was the last stop before leaving the resort. This helped DH a lot considering he gets very motion sick on the busses.

Well after thinking really hard about it...I decided on the Grandstand because I really wanted to be FAR AWAY FROM EVERYTHING.....FAR FAR AWAY...

LOL

Grandstand is our favorite section, even more so then Congress Park. Congress Park is our second choice for convience to DTD, we are some of the wierdos that actually like to visit DTD several times on our trip.

I was really thinking of Congress Park too....so if we get there and there is nothing ready at GS...we will be happy with CP or even Springs.
