Quick question....

I just signed my contract for SSR this weekend and sent it FedEx yesterday. I called my guide to let it know it was on its way and to ask when I'll hear back from them. It sounds like I won't for awhile.

He said that I'll receive my pin number for the member website in about three weeks and I'll receive my permanent card in April. Don't I receive anything more "official" stating they received everything, the financing is approved, etc?? My guide just said that I'm considered a DVC member now, that's it!! Sounds good, but I wanted to verify it with my experts here on the boards!!

Unless they contact you to report that something has gone wrong, yes, consider yourself official. As soon as you gave the down payment over the phone, you had an ID number and could begin making reservations.

If financing through DVC, you will receive a letter from them verifying that financing was approved. That could take up to a month. You may also receive another letter welcoming you to the program, but I can't confirm that with any certainty.

You should also begin to receive other miscellaneous member mailings shortly. We probably average one piece of mail per month from DVC.

The ID cards don't normally come until after the closing occurs, so that will take some time.

Thanks for the reply! Can you also tell me if there is a monthly or quarterly magazine or is everything on-line?

I just can't believe it all happened and happened so fast!!! LOVE IT!!

Welcome Home!

We have been getting a magazine Vacation Magic in the mail quarterly, (and also on line, if I remember correctly) but between the web site and these boards, by the time we get it in the mail, we know most of the news. However, I do like having it around, and sometimes there are Dismembers pictures in it, and it's just easier for me to have it in hand.

We signed on a few weeks ago. I Fed-Ex'd the paperwork back on Monday July 19, on July 21 I received a phone call from Quality Assurance (?? I think) asking if I had any questions regarding DVC & how it worked, they had received our paperwork & check that day. This week I did get a post card from Gib welcoming us to DVC, thanking us, etc. That's all of heard. We chose the $95 + dev. points & I've already booked for HH next June, I did get my confirmation on that, so I guess we're official. I also thought we would get something a little more "official", you know, balloons & confeitti falling from my ceiling or something, but well - no;)

Thanks Bobbi...I don't think I'll ever hear that enough!! :cloud9:

KristiKelly, thanks for the reply! Balloons and confetti from the ceiling...yeah, that sounds about right!! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Congratulations! We just signed up last night - put down some escrow money and the contract is on its way. It's very exciting to actually have all this underway. We happen to be going down in September to for my parents' anniversary (staying at SOG) so I plan to check out SSR and meet our guide.

I'm not really expecting to hear much from them except for the mail they send out to everyone else. Now we just need to decide when we want to go first!

I am in the same boat as you. I sent everything in last week and was also told that my official cards would not be coming until early summer. I was also told that the temporary ID cards we have now don't really expire until the new ones are mailed to us. I also called member services and asked for a PIN for the website (I could not wait 3 whole weeks!!!). They gave me the log on and PIN with no problems. Give them a call -- all the publications (current and old) are on the site.

Ooooo, thanks Bryan! I may just have to call this afternoon! I can't wait to go exploring on the DVC website!! Thanks!! :Pinkbounc

When is the earliest you can use your points? When we bought in March the earliest we could use our points was July 5th. Our deal closed late June. We received our "real" DVC member cards long before that and we just received our deed in the mail yesterday. Of course we start payments the 15th of this month. Hope this helps.

Eventually we got a congratulations you're approved-here's your due bill letter!! :) But other than that, haven't gotten anything yet. Well, we got our reservation letters for our coming trip that we booked with our guide while we bought at SSR over the phone! :) We're still waiting for our blue cards to come..... I hope they come soon, the temp ones have an expiration date of Aug. on it.....

Congrats and welcome home neighbor!!!

When I spoke to Quality Assurance last week, they told me I would get my permanent cards before the expiration date on the temporary ones (Which is in November of this year). My guide told me we will get deeded in March sometime. We picked an August UY, so we won't have points until then, but that's ok, we're "bringing the Magic home" next August! I have a call into my guide to see about what's next. Thanks for the info about the log in for the website. It's driving me crazy that the generic log in doesn't work!! Can't wait. We already rented points in October (before we bought) for SSR, so that will be our first trip home!!
Luckymommyx2, where in MD are you from. We're in New Market (up near Frederick!)

Wow, it's great to be meeting some of my new neighbors here on the boards!! Thanks for the warm welcomes!!

Susan--Ontario, we can use our points anytime after March 1, 2005. We won't be using them until September 2005 since we have the cruise booked for May. That's also why we took the $10 credit instead of the developer's point. I guess we won't receive our deed until the end of March. Our first payment isn't due until April or May, I forget which.

bartty, we did our tour back in March of this year but just bought over the phone last week! Our temp cards expire December of this year.

tigger24, we're across the state from you in the far northeast corner! I was just out your way this past weekend visiting my grandma in the hospital. I used to work just outside of Hagerstown and still have some friends in the area.

We bought 2 memberships through Disney (150 points at SSR and 150 points at BWV). The day after we mailed the paperwork back, QA called and congratulated us and went thru their checklist. Then they mailed a letter that stated our deeds were recorded on July 21. A couple days later we received 2 really nice DVC backpacks.
