For those that want to know....Cheerleaders in the World

My thought exactly. I'm glad they can't afford AKL too. As long as they keep away from the Deluxe resorts I'll be OK.

Does anyone know if there's a set schedule for when they'll be at each park, or if they're all spread out among the parks?

We always go in Feb. and the cheerleaders are there. They have never been a problem at the resorts (DxL, CS). Once in a while you notice them in parks but lines are still pretty short. They tend to flock to MGM and MK. Just stay away from these parks on the days they are there. They usually have competitions during the day so they don't hit the parks until later in the afternoon. When they come go to Epcot or AK you won't find them there.

National Dance Team Champinship
Jan 31-Feb 2, 2003

Wooho! Just barely missing them. :)
My trip is Jan 19th-28th. I don't know HOW I managed that one!
Knowing my luck this list will be updated with a group coming Jan 19th-28th... since I typed this. LOL

I agree w/ Rneighh. DW and I were at ASSp 1-31 thru 2-12 last year. Cheerleaders were all over the resort but pretty sparse at the parks. We noticed (and laughed) about a couple of things; the mom chaperones that tried to dress like their daughters and failed, the cheerleaders constantly trying to line cut (usually an accidently stepped on toe through their open sandals stopped them), and eavesdropping on their conversations (this was...like ...the best...you know).

Just a heads up........Cheerleaders will be competing at the US Spirit National AllStar Cheerleading Competition at IOA from March 28-30. My daughter is one of them!!!

They work hard and compete to win!! We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel............so for those of you who wish to move....now is the time!! Not much time for fun for these girls as they will be competing on 2 days and they have 5 teams from their gym that will be competing. They are required to stay and cheer for all teams!!!

Stop by Toon Lagoon that weekend to see some great athletes!! Our gym is very much supervised with just about every girl bringing at least 1 parent!!!

Thanks for the info Chrisn. While I'm pleased to say we'll miss them this trip, I can't say they've been a real problem when we've stayed at ASMu in the past.

Yes they can get exciteable and a little loud, but then wouldn;t most teenagers out in a group, never mind mixing in the Disney Magic and excitement. You'll always get the odd poor attitude - but again that's teenagers and hormones for yer.

The only downside to havin them at ASMu, we found, was that as they tended to travel together this would cause people jams wherever they went - particularly noticeable on the buses. But ,in the main, they were as we would all hope our own would be - a credit to Mom and Dad.

Now does anyone have similar dates for South American School trips? Now THERE'S a group I hate to get caught up in

:bounce:  :bounce: Family of four arriving ASMusic 1/28-2/5 seeking quiet but fun vacation. I don't mind other people having a great time, I just want to sleep in peace and play in peace and be realtively line free, or why else would I go at this time.:earseek: But I do love the movie, Bring It On, and have been known to have Spirit fingers, and I'm sure my daughter and son would think it fun to watch the competition. Bt, if it does get TOO LOUD , will Disney move us if I complain ? Dear God I hope so

Do they usually come a day or two early or stay a day or two after?

We were going to be there on FEB 2 - 7. We will be in the parks on FEB 3 - 6 which will be perfect unless they stay over.

Thanks!

"They" usually stay about 4 days. Arriving the day before competition and most teams will hold a practice that night on the grounds (or if they are fortunate enough to get gym space), wake up early on the morning of competition (some competitions are 1 day but most AllStar Elite competitions are 2 days) and they leave on day 4. Possibly a few families hang around an extra day or 2.

Yes, they do get loud and excited but I think any "group" travelling together (especially teens) will get loud and yes, obnoxious at times.

Our group will be arriving on March 27 at Hard Rock and departing on March 31!!! All will be clear before and after those dates!!!! This is the only competiton held in IOA!!

I just called Disney and they said the High School Cheerleading Championships will be from FEB 3 - FEB 13. I guess that is why the value resorts were almost all booked.

I changed my trip to JAN 26-JAN-31. They said they had no events planned for that time frame.

Thank you all for the warning.

:( We made the mistake of going during one one the cheerleading events; Unruly , noisy, {lots of screaming and yelling everywhere they went, even doing cheers at bus stops and on the monorail and the buses.} It was like there was no getting away from them! Totally unchaperoned, or the chaperoens were just as noisy, and there did not seem to be any respect for other guests. These cheerleaders seemed to think the whole resort was there for only them. Wheww.. Thanks for finally letting me get that off my chest. We would never, ever go during one of those events again! If you can possibly avoid it, don't go then.

 Okay, now you guys have me stressed:eek: Does this mean that I will have to stay up all night flushing the turbo toliet at AllStar Music to drown out the cheerleaders ?:bounce: :bounce: I have not heard about these cheerleaders on other message boards, and even posted a reply before , here, that maybe they won't be that bad. BUT NOW, after all these negative posts I'm getting concerned. If it is TOO MUCH, will Disney be willing to relocate my room ? Oh boy, waited a year and half , warned all the other nursing staff that nothing, widespread diseases or 3 foot snowfalls, will not keep me at work ( both of which have happened in the past few weeks), only to have my vacation plans possibly ruined by masses of hormone driven, guardian free, teenagers. Say it ain't so

Well, we just moved our Jan 30-Feb 3 trip tp Jan 28-Feb 1 to avoid the cheerleaders, after getting some insight from a "cheerleader mom" in my office who attended this event last year. Though she didn't make it seem so bad, we are taking our daughter on her first trip and want to avoid as much hassle as possible.

Cheerleader mom:
"my experience has been that the cheerleading event kept the cheerleaders and their spectators occupied for the greater part of the day. After the competition, and usually after the park closes, the park provides a "block party" for the cheerleaders and spectators and allows them an opportunity to ride the rides that they missed during the day. The one concern that I would have is if you are staying through a Sunday. If the competition is over on Saturday, the cheerleaders are usually given an extra day pass to return to the park after the competition. Most groups will go to the park on Sunday and get on their buses to drive home about dinner time. If you all could arrive Wednesday evening, have a Thurs, Fri and/or Sat at the parks, and come on Sunday or leave mid-day Saturday, you should be safe from all of those masses of cheerleaders. "

If you are staying @ an All Star Resort or CBR or possibly POR, I suggest moving if you don't want to be around all the cheerleaders. I have no problem with them being there and I am sure they get all excited about being in Disney for competition. If your not going for the Cheerleaders, I would definitely try to get a good code on a Deluxe room or perhaps try Coronado Springs. I personally have spent several months preparing for my get away and will be saving thousands of dollars just to go again. I don't want anyone who is not with the cheerleaders to have their trip ruined by the overwhelming atmosphere of girls running around and yelling their home cheers the whole week long. No offense to them, but I want my trip to be just as special as theirs are. Hope this helps!! :)

We where there last year during a reported cheerleading event and never had any problems. Yes we saw them and yes they did chants and practiced their moves in the lines, but that was no problem for me or my family. They never got any louder than my kids or anyone elses.

They where more behaved and less energitic than the touring groups we encounted during a trip in July one year. I mean I don't think there was a single person under the age of 21 in South America because they where ALL at Disney World.

It looks like we'll hit another event this year also (March) hopefully last years history repeats itself!;)

:( :D I have to both agree and disagree with jlcbshaw. Yes,those south american tours are the worst. They have absolutley no manners or respect for anyone else. There was another thread about this a little while back, I don't recall the name of it, but someone had mentioned that this was normal behaviour in certain countries{cutting in line, screaming loudly in tongues, being generally obnoxious, etc.} To that I say thank God were livin' in the USA. However the two times we visited during cheerleading times, things were quite raucous. Everything was the same except the screaming in tongues. {it was all in english} Perhaps during the college cheerleading events it's not as bad, but the high school events, forget it! And to say kids will be kids,if the parents bring a child up properly, they would teach them respect for other people and their feelings.:( Oh well, everyone have a great time at WDW. :Pinkbounc

Anyone know when Pop Warner will be held in Dec. this year? We were there in Dec. and for that one there is both cheerleading and football!

We will be at the YC the Week of Feb 23. The National Dance/Drill Team competition is Feb 28-March 2 . . . will they be just as obnoxious?
