You know the "special" offer they had to see a Minor League Game at Wide World of Sports with the DVC? Just wondering how it was? Was it made special by the DVC? Do you think they will do this again next year?

My husband and I attended March 6 game, and I thought DVC did a great job. Buffet menu included meatball subs, grilled chicken breast, pasta salad and caesar salad along with bags of chips, popcorn and peanuts. For dessert they had cookies and brownies. Lemonade and iced tea were free, and cash bar for soft drinks and beer/wine. Everything was delicious! We had use of indoor and outdoor suites on fourth floor, with great views of all parts of stadium. And the raffles prizes were great (although I didn't win anything). I don't know if they'll do it again, but if they do, I would definitely consider attending again if timing is right!

Was it Minors? I thought it was Braves major league spring training.

Yes, it was major league - Atlanta Braves v. NY Mets.
As a Marlins fan, I'll leave that alone. If I say anything, I'll probably end up eating my words later!

Seriously, though, if you like baseball at all and you get an opportunity to go to a Spring Training game -- GO!

We went to one in Jupiter a couple of weeks ago and we quickly realized our season just got longer. Spring training is a blast, and we'll certainly be going next year.

And the deal DVC had for those games was really outstanding. It wasn't cheap, but sounded like a great value. I know we are going back to Jupiter, and I'm sure going to be looking for the info about the DVC games as well.

My fault, I meant a Spring Training game LOL I've seen a lot of minor league games at Disney Wide World of Sports, we really enjoyed those AA games there. Yes it was the DVC Spring Training games between the Braves and Mets. I agree it did sound expensive, but I bet it was a wonderful day.

I was just wondering if anyone had been to any and could give a first hand review.

Disney Parrothead, thanks for you review. That was exactly what I was looking for. I'm really going to try and make one of these if they do it again.

I thought the value was well worth it. When they first put out the food, we were a little disappointed. I don't know about you, but when I think of baseball, it's hot dogs and cracker jacks that come to mind, not meatball subs and grilled chicken. But after thinking about it, we both agreed that we would have been pretty po'd if, for the $ we paid, they just served hot dogs.

And I totally agree with JimMIA - if you like baseball even just a little bit, go to a Spring Training game - no matter what team you're rooting for. I am a fair weather fan, but my husband LOVES baseball, and we were in Fort Myers earlier in the week watching our World Champion Boston Red Sox (I just love saying that!), so decided to tie this into the trip as well - I'm so glad we did. And for anyone with kids (or who is a kid at heart), Spring Training is a great opportunity to meet favorite players.

I'm absolutely hoping DVC does this again next year. We're big Mets fans and were very sad that we couldn't change our late February trip by one week to attend this year's event because the group was too big.

I only wish they'd plan it sooner so I could get decent airfare and reserve a room. I thought about bringing my nephew down for one night to see the game, but airfare was $360 each by the time Disney announced the event. My airfare for the February trip was about half that.

I know just what you mean. Part of the problem is not all DVC, I started looking for possible Spring Training games we might be able to catch this year but by the time the teams put out their schedule it was impossible to get any decent airfare. It even hurt more when I realized that the Mets were to play Easter Satureday at Wide World and we didn't plan to go this year for Easter.

I really wish they would open up the schedules at least six moths in advance.

Just an FYI--tickets are non-refundable/non-exchangable. We just lost $50 worth of tickets for tomorrow night's game because we couldn't get airfare out of Michigan for this week. We called to cancel/exchange, and found that once they have your money, you are up s*** creek if you need to make any changes. :sad2: By the way, if you are reading this and are at WDW now, and want to see tomorrow night's game against the Tigers, send me an email.

I'm really sorry to hear that you had a problem but that is the way all tickets are for any sporting event.
