For the Love of Disney - Dec 5-13

Saturday, December 5th ~ Magic Kingdom
Weather: Low 60's and chilly

We had just taken a bus from Disney Studios to Poly and went straight to the monorail - we thought about checking out our room but we were too hungry! :) Off the monorail, down the ramp, through bag check and check-in turnstyle and we have arrived...arrived at the most magical place of all. I read this (in one of my 100 disney books) but I thouht I'd share it here to just in case there is ONE person on the dis that may not know this! ;) The Magic Kingdom was designed to make us feel like we are at a theater - the grandest theater you've ever seen. You have the ticket booths on either side of the entrance...the train station is like the curtain so you can't see the main attraction, when you walk through the train station there are posters on the walls of upcoming movies, etc....just like the actual theater and previews. As you walk through the train station you can smell the popcorn, hear the music and holy cow, there it is....the place that puts magic back in every adults heart...the main attraction...Cinderella's Castle. Oh and the names on the windows above Main Street are the rolling credits! I'm sure there is more but I wanted to share the parts I could remember. And if the castle is not beautiful enough the first time you see it, try seeing it at night all lit up.

We headed straight to Pecos Bills for dinner. I swore they used to have Chicken Strips, now it’s just tender nuggets. We ordered:

Travis: Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Carrot Cake, Fountain Pop
Nikky: Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Carrot Cake, Fountain Pop
Hayley: Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Chocolate Cake, Fountain Pop
Caya: Cheeseburger, Fries, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Fountain Pop

***4 Counter Service Meals (Total Used=8)

After dinner, we headed to the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Caya loves Aladdin and Princess Jasmine and the Carpets were closing for refurbishment the next day. It was now or never and there was not a line so it was now! :) She was scared – oh my – we completely ruined her by taking her on Tower of Terror first. After it was over she loved it and wanted to do it again…I’m sure she just felt like at any minute the bottom was going to fall out from under her. Poor thing!

Big sister to the rescue!

UP NEXT: DEC 5 - POLY

Thanks Gellybean - I LOVE your name! Super cute!!! :lovestruc

So Disney to think of the little things that make us all enjoy our visits a little more. It was nothing major, kind of silly really, but it made all the difference to a little one who was heart broken that the big people were ditching her! ;)

Did your son do okay on all the other rides? Looking back I wish that wouldn't have been Caya's first ride - she enjoyed all the rides but I think she would have enjoyed everything else that much more if she wouldn't have had that bit of fear in the back of her mind.

Dash claims to be a thrill ride lover, but last trip he decided he only liked slow roller coasters....

He wants to like them and wants to be brave but some of them still scare him. I'm sure Caya will be fine and learn to adjust to which are 'scary' or 'fast' and which are just plain fun! Dash is determined to ride RnRC this time... and EE. He hasn't done those two yet. He has ridden Space and said he didn't like it because he felt he was gonna fall out. Which I can kinda understand. I am thinking the overhead safety restraints in RnRC and the snugger fitting lap bars at EE will be better than Space. Will see. He may chicken out when we get in line!!

Great update!! I soooooo want to see the castle all lit up for Christmas! :lovestruc

Count me as the one Diser that hadn't read about Mainstreet being set up like a theater!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the complement on my nickname. It's a looooooooooong story and there are many derivatives. Gellybelly, gellyroll, pbangelly, gellyfish, etc. :rotfl:

Travis: Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Carrot Cake, Water
Nikky: Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Carrot Cake, Water
Hayley: Chicken Nuggets, Fries, Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Milk
Caya: Chicken Nuggets, Carrots, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Chocolate Milk (starting to see the trend??? if not, you will!;))

Okay, I've looked back and forth three times, and I still can't get your choices to match up to the picture! :rolleyes1 Either I'm really tired or you are! :rotfl2:

It's not you...it was me when I wrote in my trip journal! :rotfl: I'll have to go back and fix that - I believe this is the lone cheeseburger of the trip and I so don't remember that. I also don't remember getting fountain pop the first night (bet I was really tired)!!! Thanks for keeping me in line! :lovestruc

omg!! I could just eat up all that food like right now :( I LOVE those Carrot Cakes but I have decided that unless I'm on a DDP, I would NEVER pay the $3.50+ that they cost. I just think of how many big cakes I could make from a store bought box for $3.50. I can justify some costs of the sweets they sell but not those little cakes! I'm glad you had a good meal, can't wait for more!

Great update! I've read that about the MK entrance being like a movie theater too. Isn't it so cool how they've designed it that way?! I looooove the attraction posters. :thumbsup2

That second picture of the castle with the dream lights is awesome!

I know what you mean - I drool when I look back at some of my pictures and remember how yummy it was (LeCellier ;)). I never would have guessed how much those little cakes cost - I wouldn't buy one either but it was a welcome treat on the dining plan. Honestly, they don't look that great but boy they sure taste good!!!

Great update! Poor Caya scared for life after ToT! My girls are scared of Tot too it broke on the fast part in May and now they were too scared to ride this trip.
The lights on the castle were just breathtaking! Did you see the lighting show? We saw it our first night and it was so magical.
Have a good night.:cheer2:

Thank you! Aren't you glad you read about the theater - there are so many magical little details. I want to know ALL of them! :)

Saturday, December 5th ~ Poly
Weather: Chilly

I had big plans to ride Splash Mountain at exactly 9:00pm today – it was my Dad’s favorite ride and he died at 9:00 pm on a Saturday. Honestly, I couldn’t handle it! :sad1: We left the parks at about 8 and headed back to Poly. I couldn’t wait to be there in our room, soaking up the atmosphere! I had gotten a text message earlier in the day with our room number once it was ready so we were able to go straight to our room. Our magical express luggage was waiting for us and Trav called Bell Services to bring the rest. I gave Caya a bath and started unpacking while Hayley showered – I’m sure Trav was on the bed with his feet up by this point (probably getting a Tiger Woods update from Nancy Grace-hahaha).

The girls and I ran to the gift shop and grabbed a couple snacks for the week. We got:

Nikky: Taffy (another have to have while on a Disney vacation)
Hayley: Sour Gummy Worms
Caya: Chocolate Princess Coins
*** Total $11

As we were walking back we heard Wishes so we ran down to the beach to listen to the rest. I love how they have it piped into the speakers all over Poly (not just the beach). So magical!!!

Awww, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the torches!:lovestruc

We were all snuggled in bed by 11:00pm. The girls ended up sharing a bed all week – we never used the daybed (other than as a couch). I'm sure you can tell by my previous posts that I :lovestruc LOVE :lovestruc Poly! It's beautiful, it's convenient and we had more than enough room. It will be hard to go to Disney and NOT stay here. It's just heavenly! :cloud9:

Favorite Rides of the Day
Travis: Rockin Roller Coaster
Nikky : Tower of Terror
Hayley: Aladdin’s Magic Carpets
Caya: The Great Movie Ride

Favorite Character of the Day
Hayley: Doug (from Up)
Caya: Ariel (from The Little Mermaid show)

Favorite Part of the Day
Hayley: Hanging out with her 4 cousins
Caya: Getting to Disney World and seeing her 2 Aunts and 4 Cousins

UP NEXT: DAY 6 - BREAKFAST

Your room at the Poly looks huge. We stayed at CR and I don't think our room was that big. I just adore the poly. Sorry to hear you didn't get to ride splash sounds like it was a little chilly for it. Your girls look so alike. They're so pretty.:lovestruc

great updates Nikky! I LOVE :lovestruc the factoid your shared about MK--I had not read it yet. I can completely understand it though! I bet it was in Hidden Magic book? I received it for Christmas from DH and I am really looking forward to reading it! :goodvibes

You were sure busy your first half day there! Two parks in one half day :worship: :worship: Poor Cayla with the TOT--I tried it once as an adult and I have no desire to go on it again! I hope she continued warm back up to rides as the trip progressed.

Your room at the Poly is just gorgeous--I would love to stay there someday. I would love to go to Hawaii too. :rotfl: I love the favorites of the day btw. I plan on doing something similar too. :goodvibes

Looking forward to the next update. :surfweb:

Aww, Im don't think that I would be able to ride either  I am sure that one day, you will be able to in honor of him! Your room looks amazing. Cant wait to hear about your next day!!!

There is nothing like the Poly at night, is there? So magical.

It has a certain something (at night in particular) that cannot be matched by any other WDW resort.

I am enjoying your tr so far. Thanks so much for sharing pics of your room at the poly. It looks wonderful. I hope to stay there some day. :cloud9:

I was there the same week as you so I can't wait to compare trips.

WOW!! Lots of updates today!!! YAY!!! Your pics make me miss the Poly soooo bad!! And I know what you mean--I don't know if I can stay anywhere else now that I've stayed at the Poly!! :lovestruc What building were you in? (sorry if you've already mentioned this--I couldn't remember) I can't believe Caya rode TOT! None of us will step foot on that ride!! YIKES!!! And those pics of the castle at night--WOW!!!
