My membership was purchased pretty much just to use at WDW, so I've never used my points or membership anywhere else. I cruise often, but I don't use Disney for cruising - I have been cruising long before Disney started in that business, and to me, cruises feel very different from Disney - I don't know that I'd want a cruise that also had Disney elements as I'm just used to different things when I'm cruising than when I stay at Disney.
Because I go to Disney World so often, every 3 months or so, my trips are never about cramming in maximum park hours - so much of my time is relaxing at the resort, visiting other resorts, enjoying the restaurants and bars at the various resorts, visiting parks later in the day, or leaving them early, and enjoying the music, bars, and food at Disney Springs.
When I do go to the parks, I usually find very long ways to get there - I may bus to a different resort that has a boat into that park, rather than take a bus directly from my resort to the park. I strongly prefer boat transportation options as they're much more relaxing and almost like a ride unto themselves with the fresh air and lovely lake and forest views.
Boardwalk is my home resort and I chose it for proximity to Epcot and other resorts - it's expanded since I bought in 1996, so now not only do I have the access to two theme parks by boat or walking...but also 5 other resorts that I can go to by boat or walking...plus 3 more I can visit via Skyliner now.
Saratoga is probably my second favorite, mainly for the walking access to Disney Springs. That gives me dozens of restaurant and quick food options, dozens of bars, and plenty of various music and entertainment options to walk to every night. The large sprawling grounds are lovely for walking, with lots of lakes, and great bird life and wildlife spotting. And by walking over to the Disney Springs marketplace boat dock (which is just a few hundred feet from Congress Park building 1), I can visit 3 other resorts by boat. And with the Disney Springs bus stop an easy walk away, I can have easy access to visit every single resort on Disney property. And as a side-perk, when heading back from parks, I can walk to nearby connected resorts to hop the Disney Springs bus, and simply walk back to my villa, rather than fight the crowds at the park's bus stop. Needing to get back to my resort later in the evening from any other resort, I just hop the Disney Springs bus which runs late and walk home - I don't have to transfer to another bus like I do when staying anywhere else.
