This may sound like a dumb question, but I'm asking it anyway...

I have quite a bit of SW credit to use. The credit comes from flights we booked last July; however, we are planning on using it for our trip to AZ in Oct. and if there's any leftover, for a trip in early Nov. I've been told that I can easily request a 6 month extension, but here's my question...is there any way to book when the new flights are released and use the credits before I've actually gotten the extension?

Because we'd be going to FL Nov. 9th-12th or 13th, I'd need to make sure the extension goes beyond that date (so I can't make the request yet...).

when you go beyond your 12 month credit window, and request an extension, you need to book and pay for your new flights and once you have COMPLETED TRAVEL (in your case, returning from AZ in Oct and FL in Nov) you then send the extension voucher (which they will send you when you call BEFORE JULY) and a copy of your flight confirmation email (if you book online) to the address on the voucher and they will credit your credit card the amount owed you.

once you request an extension, you will NO LONGER HAVE A CREDIT! you will need to pay in full and get a refund.

I think SW may be handling TTF extension differently now. I had several TTF that were going to expire this June. I need them for a trip in August, so I called SW before the TTF expired and asked for an extension. They sent me SW Luv vouchers that now expire 12/31/07 (approx 6 months after the TTF expiration, not 6 months from when I called)

I can use the Luv vouchers when I go to book my flights online (or on the phone)...there is a Luv voucher # and security code on each voucher that I can enter online. No need to book, pay in full then get a refund.

I got those LUV vouchers, too, and yes, they can be used just like the TTF and SWgiftcards. There is a space on the online booking for the LUV code.
SWA is the only airline I've flown that makes it so easy to save $ on trips.....of course, it means you have to book other trips to get your $'s worth............ (Ya' think they have that in mind....................... ?)

In November I paid for a ticket ahead of time with my credit card and then called SW and was told that they couldn't credit me back, that they now use LUV vouchers. The vouchers are really easy to use, but they take about two weeks to get them from the point that you request them. I would call them first before you purchase any new airfare.

I called them today. They've extended my tickets 6 months from when they would have expired (not 6 mos. from today), and I will receive the vouchers to then use when booking the new tickets! I'm just mad at myself for not looking into this sooner since the new flights may open up this Thursday and I won't have the vouchers yet. Oh well...

i'm not familiar w/the LUV vouchers yet, but i guess i'd best be doing my homework 'cause while i am hoping to book my august/sept airfare as soon as the prices are released, i am also hoping for a future DING! so i end up w/a TTF credit, almost as an insurance policy towards a future trip ;o)
