I have had this question in my head for along time and need to ask it. I'm sure some are going to think it's a stupid question, but I have to know. LOL!!!

For people that live in big cities that use taxis and buses, how do you get around with your kids? What I mean is I imagine you have a baby in a baby seat, but what do you with a toddler on public transportion? Are safety seat laws different for taxis and buses?

Can you tell I have lived in a small town my whole life. LOL!!!

Please be nice! My mom always told me "You will never learn anything if you don't ask" She was a teacher.

I've seen people just holding the babies on the bus, or using a portable carrier (infants). Toddlers get more tricky., sometimes they are on laps.

Subways/commuter trains are a bit easier. I have taken my smaller kids on commuter trains, and put them with me. Sometimes they are on my lap, or next to me.

Fortunately, school busses in my childrens school district have sealtbelts. Not many districts that I know of have seatbelts.

Same here.

Seatbelts are more of a risk on School Busses (fire etc) than a normal car.

As for the original question, after they are out of baby seats the kids do just fine on public transport.

i usually see parents holding them on laps or having them in a stroller.

When DD was an infant I took her on the commuter rail and subway in a sling carrier. As she got older I took her in a carriage and kept her in it if I could (non-rush hour). During the rush I'd fold up the carriage and hold her in my lap.
