what is the start of holiday shopping?
BF???

THEY have had christmas stuff in the supermarkets here since the end of august. Personally I don't even think about christmas until after my mother's birthday on 23rd of November. So I have now started to think about christmas will start buying presents next week.

Canadian Thanksgiving is in Oct. My DSis who used to work in retail tells me that stores consider the first day of Christmas shopping to be the afternoon of Nov. 11 (most stores are shut in the a.m. for Remembrance Day).

As far as I know, Black Friday is mainly an American tradition. Although I do see that a lot of Canadians are streaming across the border for the shopping on BF.

Christmas trees & stuff have been in the shops for about a month. No big Black / Green / Purple sales - the are Dec 26 for Aussies. It is time to start placing orders for seafood & the like as Xmas is usually over 100 and the northern australia is in cyclone / hurricane season

Our sales don't usually happen till after christmas I start buying my presents in the sales after christmas So I have most of my presents in since last year the big sales start around the 26th- 27th december people will stand in line early for those sales but its not as near as crazy as black friday sales in the US
