? for NYC folks about Citi Field

DH and I are coming up to Citi Field next month to watch the Phillies play the Mets (Go Phillies). We are wondering if anyone familiar with that area can tell us if it would be better to drive or take public transportation. It is a Sunday afternoon game if that makes any difference. We are coming from South Jersey. THANKS!!!!

Definitely take public transportation. The Port Washington line of the LIRR drops you off right in front of the stadium.

If you can, take the train from South Jersey to Penn Station, and transfer there to the LIRR.

Otherwise, parking at the Stadium will run you $$$$, plus you will most liekly need to park far away and take a shuttle bus to the field.

I agree, take public transportation. If you don't want to use the LIRR, you can take the 7 from Times Square to Citi Field. I think LIRR is much easier, but the subway is your other option.

If you're going to use the LIRR, buy your tickets ahead of time. You can buy them online:

Thanks for the replies. We were thinking that would probably be best. Just wasn't sure if the train stations are usually crazy after the games or not.

I don't think they are crazy - but I commute everyday on the LIRR to and from work (so I may be just used to it).

You should be fine - and you won't have to deal with Sunday beach traffic heading back to the city after the game!

Hi guys,

We're going to the last Mets game of the season. We're thinking of taking the LIRR from Penn station but the LIRR stop seems farther away than the subway stop. How far of a walk is it from LIRR into Citifield vs. subway into the stadium?
