For motion sickness patrons

My DH used the non-drowsy dramamine and it still made him drowsy. I forgot to mention that I've read somewhere that even foods with ginger like ginger snaps would work. This might be a possibility for the kids.

I'm glad that I am not the only one this has happened to! I thought it was just me! I took 2 non-drowsy dramamine's and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I'm glad I wasn't in Disney World when this happened!!

Like many of you I also have motion sickness, and it has just came about in the past few years, I didn't use to have this problem. My last trip to DW I brought Bonine with me and ended up feeling so sleepy that I fell asleep in The American Adventure :rotfl2: I almost fell asleep on a few other rides also, it was that half drunk feeling that you only get when you take Nyquil

Anyway just wanted to let everyone know that I had problems with the non-drowsy Bonine pills, it really is what works for each individual.

I am going to try the Ginger pills this year and see if that will work for me.

Thanks for all the great info.

Now that I think about it, I kinda remember feeling a bit like this the one day I took 2 Bonine. I wasn't sure if it was the medicine, the heat, or just running around like wild for about 5 days straight!!! Probably all of the above.

We've never used any meds for motion sickness, but sure would have loved to have it on Mission Space, one time and both me and my DH got sick afterwards, him being a rollercoaster lover and all. Our DD 9 at the time loved it and wanted to go again.. :guilty:

And to make it worse, we went from the to Honey I Shrunk the Audience?!

Yeah, that was a treat..NOT :rotfl:

oops, guess server was lagged, double post sorry

First. I have had extreme motion sickness all of my life. Swinging on a swing A COUPLE of times makes my head pound. The car, a boat, train, ect. I can only stand for about 30 minutes. Flying I have to be drugged! I take the old fashioned Dramamine and SLEEP when travelling. Non-drowsy Dramamine and Bonine are the same drug, identical! I tried Bonine once and while it did not make me sleep it make me feel like I had concrete blocks tired to every extremity. Very weird feeling, not tired but drugged. I have used the patches for a cruise and it worked fine, but generally I stick to Dramamine and avoid the thrill rides. I too saw mythbusters and may try ginger for some of the milder stuff like Soarin', but I doubt it would work for me for coasters and syms. So, try the drugs before you go as you may get sleepy, ect. Also, all natural ingredients are NOT necessarily SAFE for everyone. I will ask my doctor about ginger. Also, if you do get sick Dramamine DOES work after the fact. Most people think you get sick, barf, and then get on the next ride. WRONG! I have felt sick for hours after a short car or plane trip. I take Dramamine and go to sleep! Also, if your kids get really sick please give them drugs (after asking your doctor of course.) Folks who do not get motion sickness have NO IDEA how awful it is!!!

My motion sickness has gotten worse with age also. I guess I won't be trying the Bonine as it is the same as Dramamine!! I think I will try the ginger. I would really like to try the Altoid ginger tablets. I hope to find them by August!

My motion sickness is weird. I get it more with slight motion. I can ride Rockin Roller Coaster and although I feel a little woozy, it's nothing like Mission Space or any of the movie simulations. With the movie simulations (star tours, etc..) I can close my eyes and be fine. I just don't even bother anymore though. I stay outside with the stroller and dh and kids go on. It saves time rather than having to baby swap and I really don't feel like I'm missing anything since I have to close my eyes anyway!!!

I told you it was weird motion sickness. lol :confused3

I love non drowsy dramamine. Does not make me sleepy and I take it all the time-long car rides, plane rides, cruises and rides. :thumbsup2

My motion sickness is extreme too! :crazy2: I absolutely cannot fly - it's horrible. So far the OTC drugs have not helped me (I have not tried the patch). It still takes about 2 days for me to recover from air travel. Needless to say, we drive :drive: from PA to Disney. I'm O.K. as long as I'm in the front seat. My son also gets motion sick & he is allergic to the drugs. So I guess we will both try the ginger. I use it in cooking & have not had any problems, though I realize that is probably a much smaller amount. I wouldn't know myself if I actually could control this motion sickness! :yay:
