Brownies anyone?

well, if a democrat is passing around Brownies, they must be some of those funny ones from the 60s right? Isn't that what keeps us all so happy? I mean, our minds must be altered in some way, why else would we be democrats, right?

Just part of the "drugs, ramen and pizza" campaign for the college students. ;)

Don't bogart those brownies, my friends!

(o.k., so that was lame......I'm sleepy from just having ate lunch, cut me some slack. :p )

BTW faithinkarma, I'm not a democrat. :o ;)

damn, I knew as I was typing it that I was assuming...and I did struggle for an alternate word......but so many of the alternates for democrat have become "dirty words" here on the DIS, I decided that if I was mistaken, that "democrat" was likely to be the least insulting. I do apologize.

LOL. Actually after reading this thread I take it as a compliment. But I just don’t feel the need to belong to any political party.

Hello everyone!

bubie, I'm the same way but I realize that "independent" is a bad word nowadays so I don't know what to call myself. Unattached? Unaffiliated? Confused? ;)

The comment about hoping everyone here can get along after the election interested me. I'm having a tough time because my DH still supports Bush. I don't say much but occasionally I have to get my two cents worth in. He acknowledges that there are problems but still thinks that invading Iraq was the right thing to do. His reasoning is that Sadaam was a bad guy and needed to go. OK, he was a bad guy but that's not why we went and that is important to me.

Oh well, enough about that. Pass me a brownie please. snoopy, share!!!

;)

I don't know who would argue that "independent" is a bad word, but when I belonged to no political party (before returning to the Democratic Party last year) I referred to myself using the term on the voter registration form (at least in CA): "non-partisan." Certainly nothing "nasty" about that word. I didn't like using "independent" as a term because there is, after all, the American Independent Party (I've always wondered, however, how one could be both independent and a member of a political party...)

Grrr I accidentally clicked on the Bush thread
Apparently, not only are we rooting for the Pres to be killed, are voting for Hitler re-incarnated, but we all need therapy

Non-partisan.... Yes, that'll work. :)

I think that I'll go peek in on the other thread. I'll probably regret it but forewarned is forearmed as they say.

Sorry, I don't have any brownies but I did just bake some devil's food cupcakes for DD's birthday. After reading some of the comments about and accusations against the Democrats and other Kerry Supporters, I'm thinking "devil's food" may be appropriate. :)

I'm trying to be really good and avoid the political threads other than this one - which I really don't see as political so much as a place to retreat from the bullies. A place where we can talk about our concerns for the next 4 years without getting jumped all over.

One thing that bothers me the most is how many posters to the Bush thread seem truly fearful for their own personal safety (and that of their children) if Kerry should win. Do they not listen when he talks about increasing the budget for Homeland Security? It's as if they think that Kerry is going to roll out the red carpet for terrorists. Do they really think that Bush/Cheney alone have done that much to deter more attacks?

i don't know. i find that reason for voting for bush quite baffling.

I also find that reasoning baffling. Gives new meaning to the name, Fear Factor, does it not?

That's the main reason why most of the world does not like Bush. They feel he is increasing the threat of world terrorism instead of decreasing it.

well well well.....look what has happened while I was "away".

A week or so ago, I decided to ban myself. I simply did not like the anger I was feeling about some of the posts I was reading. I had already been spending less and less time online, and devoting the extra time volunteering for the DNC. So going "cold turkey" was not as difficult as you might think.

Then today I got PM and opened up the DIS. And once there, I was unable to resist the urge to just check out the community board. I was a good girl and avoided the Bush only thread, but I did open this one. I have not read it all yet, but have enjoyed what I did read. The whole thread has a "community" feel to it. And even the trolls did not bother me, since I have had most of them on ignore for a long time now.

So "HI" everyone. It is good to be back :-)

So tell us how are you going to celebrate when Kerry Wins?

I got my flu shot and ended up talking politics to a Libretarian (sp?) senior citizen while I was in line. We pretty much disagreed about everything, and the ladies in front of us would turn around and agree with me every once in a while, but in the end we said pleasant good-byes, and I told him I hoped he didn't get the flu.

My husband took my sons campaigning today, and my husband is driving Howard Dean around tomorrow, where Dean will be meeting with Democrats and encouraging the get-out-the-vote effort. I thought it was cool that DH was asked to drive him.

I heard an interview with the editors of the Philadelphia newspaper, the Tribune I think, and they believe that Kerry will get a large majority of the votes in Philly. PA looks good. My kids had a doctor's appointment today, and even the doctor said she's voting Kerry-- and that Bush is scary.

Laid back ... never been called that before.

Well, you are very smart and knowledgable, like a lot of other people on this thread.

Hi FIK! nice to see you again too, and Therapeutic Smile.

Hey, why is the "naked Girl" on the conservatives side?
:earseek: Who is she going to run around naked with Rush Limbaugh, and the religious right??  :smooth:
