I've always pictured Cloris Leachmen as Grandma Mazur.

I just read that Heigl was replacing Reese Witherspoon who was originally cast to play Stephanie.

I'm sure I'm the only one that will say this but I don't even like Katherine Heigl. She just doesn't seem approachable like someone I'd want to hang out with.

I had been thinking someone like Amy Adams would have been good. She's young and seems spunky enough to pull off something like that.

I didn't get past your post because I absolutely agree with you about Katherine Heigl. And as someone who has spent quite a bit of time in the Chambersburg section of Trenton where the books are set - Katherine Heigl is not a BURGER BIT in anyway shape or form! Count me out as someone who is not going to see the movie.

I agree-I'm a Jersey Girl too and Katherine Heigl is not going to cut it playing one of us. I didn't agree with Reese Witherspoon either.

And another thing...whaddya mean Sandra Bullock is too old????

She's over 40 and Stephanie is still in her 20's (late) I think.

ETA I just went on wiki to find out how old her character is and it said that the favored actress to play her on the official website was Anne Hathaway. I have no idea how long ago that was added to wiki but its pretty interesting. It also said that the favored actress for Lula wa Mo'nique. I have no idea who that is.

I still think Sandra could pull it off.... I'm glad to see that she's finally getting credit she deserves for her performances.

I really don't know any younger actresses who have the chutzpah to play a Jersey Girl. The only person I can think of right off the top of my head is Jillian Michaels from Biggest Loser but she's not an actress!

I always thought Sherri Shepherd would be a good Lulu. Now I don't watch the view so I'm not tainted by opinions of her there (good or bad, I have no clue), but I remember her from the show Less than Perfect.

I think Heigl is an awful choice for Stephanie. I'm not sure I could sit through that movie. Bummer.

See I think the opposite, I don't see Heigl as playing ditzy/clutzy, to me she is just to one dimensional. I think Hathaway could pull it off, she has played a range of characters and has been good at all of them. I just see Heigl as herself playing a character, KWIM. Regardless, I'll go to the movie because I think it will turn out great no matter who is in it.

Hmm, that may work as well. I haven't seen a lot of her movies or even watched Alias. Can she play a ditz?
I would also see it with Anne Hathaway. She spent a lot of time growing up in NJ so she might be able to pull it off. No way could Heigl or Witherspoon do it.

I'm still struggling with casting Morelli and Stephanie. I've read most of the books, still have the newest one to get through-but I saw her as late 20's-early 30's.

I'm loving to see the way people visualize certain characters. I have to go back and google some of the actors/actresses suggested for the roles, as I have to admit, I don't know who some of them are!

I could see The Rock (Duane Johnson, I think it is?) for Ranger! He's totally not what I picture in my head while reading the books, but i can't think of anyone who fits my mental image.

For Morelli, I always picture Bobby Cannavale.

For Grandma I think Betty White would be great!

Still, though, I don't know about who should play Stephanie. In my head I kinda picture Monica Potter (except with dark hair). I feel like Jennifer Garner isn't brash enough. Anne Hathaway seems so... refined. I could see Sandra Bullock and Monique together in it. I need to think about this!!

You are certainly not alone about Katherine Heigl. I really do not care for her at all. All her complaining about her character not getting enough good material on Grey's Anatomy really turned me off. I was so hoping that Izzy would have died last year.

I'm another one that feel Sandra Bullock could be Stephanie.
