Was today really a "2" (per easywdw.com)? I found it quite busy at MK today. I'm trying to get a grasp on the crowd levels so I can work on planning my next trip.

TIA!

Easywdw.com's crowd prediction numbers are for the entire WDW complex, not individual parks. MK was busy today because it is Monday- one of the busiest days of the week. That is why it was NOT the recommended park for the day.

When planning your next trip, take a look at which parks are recommended for each day, and then read the descriptions for each day and Josh's explanations for why he recommends that you go to or avoid a particular park. It makes all the difference.

When are you going? When there are hard ticket events going on at MK such as MNSSHP and MVMCP crowd levels on non party days are much higher than they ordinarily would be at that time of the year.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Once party season starts, there could be an overall low crowd level around Dinsey, but the non-party nights in the MK get a concentration of guests. I LOVE party season because it's so easy to pick a low crowd day in the MK...... any day with a party.

Josh's MK thoughts for 9/16.........

Its going to be a busy day at Magic Kingdom even without Extra Magic Hours to lure Disney resort guests. First, a lot of people are arriving for a weeklong vacation. They travel over the weekend and naturally head to the Magic Kingdom on Monday for their first full day. The later close is also attractive to casual vacationers who equate longer hours with being able to accomplish more during the day. Of course, this isnt usually true because heavier crowds lead to longer lines, more congestion in common areas, and an overall less pleasant touring experience. With no Main Street Electrical Parade scheduled either of the next two nights, Magic Kingdom will also be popular with anyone that wants to see it. All of this adds up to a day that will be busier than the below average overall crowd level insinuates. If you are headed to Magic Kingdom despite the warning, you can still have a successful and fun day if you arrive prior to Park opening and head straight to Fantasyland, the headlining Mountain rides, or whatever you feel is most important on your itinerary. You may want to take an afternoon break from 1pm to 6pm or so to rest up for the nighttime spectaculars. This is the busiest and hottest part of the day. Still, youre much better off waiting until Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday to visit because Magic Kingdom will be less crowded.

And yes, the party night days are the best time to visit MK, if not doing the party.

We were at MK yesterday. This is somewhere in our upper 40th, lower 50th trip (we lost count). The MK yesterday wasn't very busy. It was probably somewhere around a 3 in my experience. Most of the lines were around 10-40 minute waits. That's an extremely low wait. In fact, even the busiest rides I didn't see anything over 40 minutes. We nearly walked on everything.

You're going to laugh at me (and it's cool :lmao:) but I found this out by my own ignorance after the fact. Our first 2 trips had been smack in the middle of Easter so I only knew about level 10 crowds. Then we went in October and all was calm until we hit MK. I honestly didn't see any difference in the parade and fireworks crowds to what we had experienced in peak times. It was only afterwards that I discovered why

Yeah, I haven't been at peak times, but I'm betting that crowd we got swallowed up in on a Saturday night last December was pretty close.
