How are you all getting from LAX - port and from Port Canaveral - MCO????
Is it worth the tranfsers or should we rent a car? Take a cab/limo?

DCL Transfers Grand Californian Disneyland to Port
DCL transfer Port Canaveral Floridato Orlando MCO Airport

Doing my own thing before Disney.

Looked at car rental but decided to go with Disney

We're going in several days before and staying off-site at DL. We are going to do our own transportation (we may fly into Orange County instead if the price is right). From the hotel to the port, again will probably hire a van or towncar. When we get to Orlando, probably Tiffany Towncar.

I know some of the folks staying at the Holiday Inn in San Pedro will shuttle from LAX to the hotel, then the hotel has a shuttle to the port for $3 per person.

From Port Canaveral to MCO I'd suggest DCL transfers.

We plan on staying 2 extra nights in Orlando and go to Discovery Cove, so we'll probably rent a 15 passenger van in Port C.

DD and I are heading over to GC three days prior but don't know how we will get there as of yet? But from GC to Port we will have the Transfers. We will also use the transfers to get us "HOME" (SSR) for two nights before we head back to reality! Will probably have a rental car to get us back to MCO so that we can stop in at the Premium Oultet Mall!

Any suggestions on how to get to the CG?

Thanks

Right now, I'm looking into Cab/Towncar from LAX to the Port. At $50 a pop for the DCL transfers, I think my group of 8 can do better. Especially since DCL won't be bringing the buses out and not special luggage handling will be offered.
That said, things could change...it's so far out. Nobody's even considered a stay at DL first, because we live in CA and can go whenever we want and would rather not deal with the Summer crowds...but who knows..that could change too. So...all's open right now for us.

Too early for me to even think about it for the CA side. But, for the FL side I would probably rent a car at the port and drop it off at MCO later that night when our flight leaves.

We have done one way car rentals several times from Port Canaveral and never had a problem.

We'd like to have a few days at Disney and since I lived in Riverside, CA years ago - I'd like to take my family there to see where I lived, etc.

so much to think about - flying, hotel, transfers - don't want to be a procrastinator but it's hard to decide when it's 14 months away!

Just very glad that we will be able to do this trip!!

I am kinda waiting and hoping Disney comes up with some type of offer for us repo cruisers. DH and I are flying out to CA early and going to DL and DCA before the cruise. We are looking to stay close to the parks then transfer to the hotel near the port the night before debarkation. Not sure yet what type of transportation we will be using.

Rae, It is so nice to "hear" from you again. I have really missed you on the boards. I thought maybe something was wrong!! Glad you are back joining us once again!!!:)

Great to be back from Europe! If I stayed there any longer, I'd be native by now! Just loved it!

Regarding the plans for DCA and DL, I am hoping that the travel agency has some special deals going on with airfare and tickets. After getting this cruise from rumor to fact, it isn't too much to hope for some good deals now is it?!

Hugs,
Rae

I will be flying into LAX the day before, staying at the Holiday Inn with a bunch of other cruisers, the hotel will shuttle us to the port. After arrival at Port Canaveral, I plan on renting a car, going to MCO and picking up my sister and then spending a few days in the world.

A lot can happen between now and then, so my plans are subject to change on the FL end.

Sounds like a DIS meet to me! I've lived in Riverside for the last 21 years!

Rae (and others): You might want to look at flying into Ontario. It is easy to get into and out of and now has a good selection of airlines from which to choose. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get to Disneyland from Ontario.
