Check out the GPS Drive app from MotionX for the iPhone. It works great and gives great directions. You have to buy a "subscription" to get the live voice directions, like a Garmin gives you, but is much less expensive. I think it works great. I got a little dashboard holder for my iPhone and it works well instead of buying a stand-alone GPS.

I agree. This is a great little app, probably the best-kept secret in GPS.

Anyone taking the 2,000+ mile round-trip drive this coming 4th of July weekend?

We're going 2 weeks from tomorrow. Plan is to drive Friday overnight from MA to Savannah, GA and then to Orlando Sunday morning.

We have 3 GPS devices. The MDX has navigation, I have a Garmin 350 which I use in my other car and then my Droid has Google Navigation (which has traffic, etc).

We're excited to go! This is our 2nd time driving. We'll be taking the "western" route to avoid the traffic on I-95. However, we will be taking I-95 coming back because we will spend some time at Virginia Beach.

We are making the trek next month from Northern NJ.

We have never used ezpass before.. do you recommend it?

I would definitely recommend it -- you can use it on tolls in Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. It really comes in handy.

Those road trip reports ALWAYS make for great entertainment. Ha! :lmao: I wouldn't ever attempt that, but I love reading about them.

EZ Pass is definitely worth it! Even for just the local tolls. You can put $25 on it, it never expires. I usually only have to replenish the EZ Pass every 4-5 months. Great for driving into the city and the bridge/tunnel tolls. I didn't realize until this thread that EZ Pass did not work in ALL states LOL!

Thanks everyone! I will go ahead and get it. We usually for to AC once a year so it will come in handy.

So comforting to see that there are so many others who do this!
We'll be making the loooooonnngggg trip from Michigan in August. About 2400 miles roundtrip -- eek :scared1:!!!

Just joining in for moral support !!

And don't forget the mileage that you'll add while in WDW. We drove 119 miles in WDW last month. [Total round-trip + WDW mileage: 2,278] :teacher:

All the best.
