1st = March 1992

Last = March 2013

Next = March 2014

See the pattern :)

our last flight was in 2008 when we did a cruise + WDW trip. With 2 kids now, its about $1,300 to fly round trip, and less than $400 to drive. So we save the $900 and drive most of the time now.

Its funny we have come full circle. We used to drive because we were poor in the 90's. Then we flew because we were starting to be successfull as adults. Then we had kids and became poor again so we went back to driving.

Now we are just "frugal"!!!

All-time records updated! And we had one more "straight-through" drive than our previous total. But you are #1.:cool1:

All the best. :thumbsup2

Cool on approaching your 30th! We were were also darn young by today's standards, I was 21, my wife, Davian, 19 :).

25 years later, I'd do it all over again and am looking forward to the next 25 :goodvibes

Same on Uncle Sam too. He could be the deciding factor in a spring trip as well :lmao: (Those extra 0's could help too) :rotfl:

:rotfl: consider it done! :thumbsup2

she has to go into n.y on Monday and come home Wednesday next week and do the same the following week. now with the weather, she may just head in on sunday. nothing like new York city traffic on a snowy, icey Monday.

What is your status level as a 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Driver?

Here are the tentatively planned levels that will soon be placed on page one of this thread:

5 drives to WDW: "bronze"
10 drives to WDW: "silver"
15 drives to WDW: "gold"
20 drives to WDW: "platinum"
25 drives to WDW: "diamond"

Drives above those levels can be catagorized in multiples. For example, someone who makes 40 drives is "double platinum;" Fifty drives: "double-diamond." :worship:

Remember: this is just meaningless fun, but if you are seeking a long-range driver status, we've got one for ya! :moped:

All the best. :thumbsup2
I love it! Gives me something to strive for. Unfortunately, with our every 2-3 year Disney trip schedule, it'll be quite a while before I reach bronze level with driving trip #2 coming up in August. And I think about the other trips we've made down over the past decade, if we hadn't wasted our time flying and instead hit the road, this would have been #5 this year. Oh well, you live and you learn.

You will soon be on your way to "bronze" status. Time passes quickly.

Our first drive was not planned. A local power outtage in 2002 due to a severe thunderstorm left our town in the dark for almost a day. Unable to secure our home (alarm system, timers, refrigerator, etc.) we missed the flight and the airline wouldn't reimburse/credit us because the power outtage wasn't "regional." We said, "why don't we drive?" And we did. Of course, we had our WDW reservation and missed the first day of it but upon our arrival the AKL did not charge us for the missed day, and we made it just in time for a late dinner.

We didn't know anything about the nature of I-95, rush hour traffic jams, construction delays, etc., but we learned much from that first drive. The second drive was planned and we've been doing it ever since.

We are looking forward to the road in April, and trying to close the gap between us and dvczerfs! :worship:

All the best. :thumbsup2

Hmm. Imagine a well designed pin back button or bumper sticker that signified that the wearer/driver was a 2,000+ mile round-trip driver.

A tacky item? :confused3

Just thinkin.'

All the best. :thumbsup2

Just checking in, our February trip from NJ was a success! We did do an overnight each way with ds(2.5). It was my first drive since 98 in my pre married days, and look forward to doing it all over again next February! Thanks for all the advice.

my possible june trip isn't off the table yet. I will taking my taxes to the accountant this week (if it ever stops snowing :lmao:) and if she has some good, or I should say, not as bad news, briana and myself will be driving down in june. so that is only two trips in 2014.
im kinda holding my breath. :lmao: it would just be briana and myself and I can drive straight thru by myself on the way down.(15-16 hours non stop, no napping!) but on the way home im going to need her to drive for about two hours. she scares me driving to the corner store! :lmao:

We would proudly display on our vehicles.

It could be a car or van with 2000+ on it! like the marathoners have; the white oval with 26.2 in the middle.

Cheryl

we need a logo.:hyper:

A smiley face wearing Mickey ears in his car, van, truck or RV headed down the highway entering Welcome to Disney a 2000+ miles

The car on the hwy dragging a banner saying only 1,000 miles to go, with the happy face wearing ears
Add a separate clingy with the spot to write the most recent trip number....:drive:

hi ladygoldenhair!!!!!! :wave2:

how have you been!!!! besides sick of shoveling and freezing!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
looks like this snow is heading south of me and going to hit philly and south. heck, only 3-6 inches, 3-6 is like a dusting anymore. :lmao:

I had a older vw rabit a few years back, ok, 15 years ago :lmao: it was that deep red color. I wanted to have ears welded on the roof and give a paint job. nothing fancy, just drive it to work, bank and to the store. I know, "I have issues!" :lmao: I thought better of it, I didn't want to meet any Disney lawyers. :lmao:

if you listen closely, you can hear BCs wheels turning.:rotfl:

I just noticed your signature!!!!! have a great time!!!!!!

are you planning any other trips this year? the only one I have set in stone is September for 11 nights at beach club. its our 30th anniversary. its hard to believe tammy put up with me for 30 years. :lmao: I did manage to create a Disney monster and we even managed to make one too. :lmao:
we are going to be down from the 10th to the 21st.
if there is such a thing, did to many trips in 2013. spent way to many dvc points and money but it was well worth it to us.
hows dd doing? still have her eye on the Disney program???? I have to tell you, briana is a different person since she did the program. she is no longer afraid to talk to people and the shyness in meeting people are gone. she carries her self differently. she learned how corp. America works and had a great time doing it. who knows, maybe one day she will go back. sitting back in a classroom I think has her thinking. :lmao: she has "post name tag" syndrome!! :lmao: she keeps pointing with two fingers!!! :lmao:

anyway, keep in touch. there are a few of us that all live with in an hour or so of each other. maybe one day we can all meet up together. :scratchin

I'll be bronze in July. :cool1:

Cool indeed!

Now then...a few suggestions for a "2,000+ Mile Round Trip Drivers Only!" bumper sticker are interesting, to say the least.

dvczerfs: Our wheels will be turning next month. :hourglass

All the best. :thumbsup2

:lmao: hopefully you wont have to worry about the snow! :sad2:

I wonder if its going to stop. looks like, so far we are going to miss out on the heavy duty stuff for this storm.
