I also want to tell you a little something about how the program kids are taken care of. ( at least dd was) a lot of people like to dump on the company but let me tell you what happened to her. one late night (2am) last june, she was stocking a cart after the park had closed. ( which a closed mk park is something to see) she pulled a muscle in her back. her boss said go home and see how it feels in the morning. well, she called home crying at 4am. I told her to suck it up and rub some dirt on it... big baby!! :lmao: (that's what she tells me when my back goes out) in the morning she went to the company doctor ( near test track) the nurse said you need to see a doctor. a wdw car picked her up, drove her to a off site dr. she was given three scripts and sent back in the wdw car. they filled her scripts there. the car drove her back home. after a week, the car picked her up and took her back to the doctor. off another week. she was on lite duty for a week while going through therapy. therapy was off site and she was driven by a wdw car each time. (her personal driver was from Lancaster.):lmao: her light duty job, she was in the tunnel filling the squirt, fan bottles.:lmao: I have to add, the word utilidors is for the tourist. lol cms call it, one or the tunnel. any appointment she had, wdw sent a car to her apartment and drove her there and back after she was done. I told her there is not one other place in the world that I know of that would treat one of there part time, min.wage employees like that. after she came home, dw wrote a letter to the program thanking them for all they done for her. dd spent nothing through the entire thing. not a cent on transportation nothing. they treated the kid like a queen. after it was over, she was going to transfer and the boss wouldnt let her leave. they said if you stay you wont have to stock. she stayed and they stuck to there word. so, theres a little story that you don't read on the internet about the wdw company.

That is a really great story....wow!!

:thumbsup2
They paid her while she was out and got paid to go to hue doctor. Must be the orange juice, the water smells!! Lol

What is it about the water??? I hate it. My DS hates showering in FL :(

Regular gas at our local Wawa station: $3.49 a gallon. The price has bounced around from $3.42 to $3.59 during the last three or four weeks.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Prices are starting to move downward by me too, $3.34 again in a few stations. But oil prices appear to be going up, so this may be a short-lived drop!

Words of wisdom from LadyBeBop.

As time goes on, your daughter will be able to differentiate between a job and a career. The former is something she has to do; the other is what she wants to do. If phrases like "Ugh, it's Monday morning," "hump day" and "TGIF" are part of her Monday-through-Friday vocabulary, she's in a job. And no one benefits: the employee, the boss or the customer. Hopefully, she will select a career...and yet, in this ever-changing economic world we live in, the structure of the 21st century economy is constantly changing. Multiple careers are a possibility. What looks career-like and appealing now may not be in another decade. Nevertheless, she has two big factors on her side: youth and caring parents.

Remember Davy Crockett's motto: "Be sure your'e right, then go ahead."

All the best. :thumbsup2

I think this is the key point. Knowing Briana, and knowing she is wise beyond her years, she will make a good decision. But more than anything, is she in the CAREER she wants (in the right industry, not necessarily the ultimate job)? The job market is SO competitive that if she is in a great spot, then it would be good for her to stay.

Here's a story: DH was in a job/career that he hated, right out of high school. He went through four years of school and apprenticeship, then at the end, asked for additional unpaid time off to travel the country with friends, seeing most of the 48 states. He was refused, so he quit! Sounds crazy right? It took him years to get a good paying job after that but today, years later, what is the most important thing? The experience he had travelling the country and seeing so many things that I would never see.

And if Davy Crockett wisdom can apply to the situation, even better :thumbsup2

We are packing up the car this afternoon/evening and heading out in the morning! Glad we're not driving through these storms that we have this morning!

:lmao: I always thought it was just the water on property but when dd was down on the program, the kids stay in apartment complexes( these complexes are nice, owned by Disney and are locked up like a prison. if we wanted to visit, she would have to walk to the guard stand, sign us in. they photo copy dw and I drivers license and take a picture of the license plate. we had to be out by 1am, if not, they will come looking for us.they are located off of 528 near little lake brian. the water there also had that funny smell to it. :lmao: they had to have the water heater replaced while they were there and the guys who where doing it said they change them once per year, that's all they last.

great story Sharon. never knew that. :thumbsup2
I guess what she is also looking at is she really didn't know what she wanted to do. she change her major twice and was kinda of a lost kid till she went to wdw. something happened there!!! she went a shy kid,she would look down when she talked to a strangers and quiet short answers. now..... completely the opposite. holds her shoulders backs, looks at you in the eye and speaks clear and with confidence. she is also handles herself professionally. which for some reason im shock and I don't know why.:lmao: she also seem to have really grew up in the eight months she was gone.
I don't really want to post on a public form where she is working. I don't have a problem telling anyone on this thread and if I meet you, ill be more then happy to tell you but she is working for a fairly large company and it is the same company my dw works for.
when she worked for mcdonalds, Panera bread and even wdw, there was always grumbling. I always told her, there is no perfect places to work. they all have there ups and downs. with this job, she comes home smiling and cant wait to tell you what she did today. she is learning about retirement plans, annuities, stocks etc..... and loves it.

the most important thing is finishing her degree. she is going to take a class or two in the evening till she is finished. which I don't have a problem with it.
im about 75 percent sure she isn't going to go but im guessing we will be talking more his weekend.

thanks for all the input!!! and sorry about the off topic for the thread. I know a lot of you and value your opinion. :thumbsup2

Driving down from Ontario in August. This will be our first time driving!

Cool! :cool1:

A number of Canadians have shared their long-drive experiences on this thread. Look at page one, post number one for the All Time Records, which features a Canadian entry.

All the best. :thumbsup2

I cannot wait!! 32 days until we leave. My last day of school is June 23rd. We're leaving at 3 a.m. on the 24th!

DVC- sounds like the disney program was perfect for Brianna.

We drove straight through from MA for the first time last month. Just not for us. I give people who do it a LOT of credit.
We tried it on the way down but stopped on the way home.

I do it myself straight though on the way down. 1100 miles only stopping for gas and restroom stops. On the way home I let dw drive for about two hours, the rest I can do. Again, straight through stopping for gas and restroom.
Ma is about another four hours onto the trip, that could be a little ruff for me to do alone without stopping at a rest stop for a nap.

Well I see gas is hanging at the 3.71 mark around here for awhile. We get that special gas here in the Lehigh valley, it's always just a little bit more. Lol
