Two weeks from today I will (hopefully) be in WDW. I have started making lists of things to do. Every time someone finds out I am driving to Florida, they want to give me route recommendations. Last one I heard was 78-and then pick up 84 through the Blue Ridge Mountains. I politely make a note in my Blackberry, knowing that I am following the route that dvczerfs posted. Just hope that my GPS will like that way........

It appears as if four 2,000+ mile round-trip drivers will be in WDW in two weeks! Who knows, perhaps even more? Cool.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Is there a place on here for 2000+ vehicles funerals??LOL....Lets hope and pray my vehicle will make it thru the night. A little sad about losing her. This vehicle started all those memories. Thanks yall for listening to my pathetic whining....LOL

Perhaps you should buy DVCZERF's van -- they said they are selling it after the next trip. (I seriously talked to my husband about contacting them, but we are loan-free right now and decided to stay that way.)

Looks like we got us a Convoy......... Sadly, I have that 45 record somewhere in this house.......

i leave next friday!!!!!!:woohoo: dont go 78 to 84!!!! its 78-81!!! :lmao: pam trust me. you wont need the gps. you get out towards harrisburg, 78 has 4 lanes, 2 go to 81 north and 2 go to 81 south. go 81 south. theres no way you can get off 81 south unless you try.:lmao: you will be on 81 a long time and i77 interchange is out in the middle of know were!!:lmao: you cant miss it,make a wrong turn or anything. very simple.:thumbsup2 theres just no other interstate to get on.:lmao:
i wanted to ask you before, did you ever work in the disney store in the lv mall?
now the van topic!!! sharon asked me about it last year, but we were just going to trade it in. as you can see, its like new. what i do is take it to the dealer, what ever they will give me for it on a trade is what i would sell it for. i hate selling a car. i dont like dealing with the "will you take this much". thats why i just trade my stuff in. but if sharon dont want it,she asked me first, ill sell it.
i would make it part of the new car deal that they do the paper work on me selling the van to someone. im sure they will charge a fee and the state taxs.but so will anyone else. we most likely be getting the new car in allentown. ill let you know when the time gets closer, till than, shes safely sitting in the garage were she has been for 5 years.:lmao:

Wanted to jump back in since I’m getting excited to hit the road for my longest road trip to date (Lehigh Valley, PA to Kissimmee). Planning on heading the 78 to 81 to 77 route and looking forward to the change. We’ve done the 95 route straight down to the Myrtle Beach area tons of times but have never driven further south or have taken the 78 to 81 route.

We’re leaving this coming Sunday morning by 3 AM at the latest and we’re planning on stopping in either Savannah or Jacksonville for the night. Since there are 6 of us, I had to book a “suite” hotel in advance to be sure I wasn’t wasting time driving around looking for a place to stay that could hold all of us in one room. I booked both cities and can cancel that day depending on where we want to stop. Ideally, I would love to drive straight through but not sure the wife and kids can last that long. I don’t want to drink a ton of coffee for the early part of the trip, because I don’t want to have to stop much to take bio breaks while everyone is sleeping, so I’m thinking to trying that little bottle of 5 hour energy. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?

T minus ninety hours until we leave for Florida!!!!....maybe. STILL waiting to hear about my car, the one big enough to easily fit the family of five. Found out last week that it needed major engine work. Dealership has now been working with the warranty company for six days trying to figure out if the warranty will cover it.:headache: At this point, I just need to know if they will pay for it. Warranty pays = we go...warranty doesn't pay = no vacation for two years. Best case is we cram the five of us into DW's Escape for the 2100 mile round trip. Should be pleasant.

Hey all. We're on our way home. We extended one day (another bonus of driving). We left from Epcot at 7pm yesterday and spent the night in Jacksonville. We'rejust heading in to SC

Just back at 1:30 am today. We drove down on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend and took the 22-78-81-77-26-95 route. It was a pleasant drive. Lots of tractor trailers, but very few cars. Considering it was a holiday weekend the travel went really well. We did stop at a roadside rest (with night time security) to sleep for a couple of hours. We had left at 9:30 pm Friday and got to Melbourne, FL around 7:30 pm Saturday. When we got off the DCL cruise we headed up to Georgia to Forrest Hill Resorts. If you like it rustic this is just a few steps up from camping. We stayed in a Wilderness Lodge which is 4 attached rooms with seperate enterances with a mini kitchen and a deck off the back. No Housekeeping and plenty of bugs and spiders (DH took care of them, catching them and putting them outside.) We used to camp, but I prefer a hotel now. This was like taking a step backwards after the cruise. It really wasn't terrible, just not DCL. We went 2 days to Gold N Gem Grubbin, a place someone on this thread had talked about. We had fun the first day finding gems in our $60 bucket of dirt. The second day we panned for gold in the creek. We didn't find any gold, but did find a few more gems to add to our collection. Our GPS got us around and on the day we left it took us to 85 and then 77-81-78-22 home. When I Google mapped to get home it took me around to 95 and I had modified my map to take 85. Seems my GPS has ESP.:lmao:

Nope, never worked at the Disney Store. I often thought of doing it part time for the holidays, but my kids sports schedules were a priority. Now that they are old enough to drive, maybe I will do it this Christmas.
Don't worry, I have already erased those 78-84 directions.

As for 5 hour energy, one of my neighbors swears by it. They just drove from here to Cincinatti, OH (about 10 hours). Jay drove straight thru on two 5-hr energy shots (4 hours apart) and a can of Coke. I have tried it for a little pick me up when I am having "one of those days" and I was able to skip my little 30 minute power nap.....

Just went past the Ridgeland SC exit 22 of 95. While we saw 2 Sheriff's with cats pulled over and 1 sheriff onthe grass, all in the SB lane, the cameras were not set up today. (cars not cats) I'm still not too good on this thing. I'll write more when I can on laptop. In the mean time I'll stick with short road reports.

i dont drink or eat that much on the road to start with. but if i drank coffee, i would need a bottle, the rest stops just arnt close enough for that.:lmao: when i start, i can can go 4 hours straight, than if you stop evey two hours or so and make them quick, you will hit jacksonville around 6-6:30pm. as long as you dont stop for meals for an hour and as long as you donr hit major traffic. i never have a problem staying awake for the trip down, im to cranked up to get there.:lmao:

we stay at okw most of the time and dw was sitting on the deck and noticed a little black plastic box on the ground in the bushes. she asked me is that for mice?:lmao: i said, did you ever see mice in the swamp? there for snakes. she flipped, she said there are snakes!!!! i said thats why the only mouse you see is a big one with pants, the rest, the snakes eat.:lmao: i told her, your in a swamp. the entire 43 square mile wdw is one big swamp land. there are snakes, gators, bugs. now we have to get a room at least on the second floor.:lmao:

T Minus 1 hour before we hit the road..... woo hoo!!!

Can't wait to escape the heat here in Chicago! :lmao:

We are in Fredericksburg for the night and I'm on a real computer (vs. the Droid which as you all can see I'm not the best at:goodvibes).

I have been enjoying reading everyone's posts about their trips coming up and DVCZERFS, love the pictures of the van. It's very pretty. Ours looks like something else after 2 weeks on the road.
We are not neat travelers, but we're happy travelers:goodvibes.

We did buy 4 new antennae toppers, 2 for the van and 2 for my car. That way if one gets yucky we have another one to replace it. We've been driving around with the Pink Princess Minnie with no ears for a few months now. It is being replaced with a castle and the backup is Tinker Bell. For my car it's Goofy and Lightning McQueen.

Overall the trip back has been uneventful. We have about 400 miles left. We have no plans to leave overly early tomorrow but I'm hoping it's no later than 10.

Can't wait to read about all of the upcoming road trips!

Booked a bounce back for October (we'll see if we actually go, but the planning is 1/2 the fun).
