FOP or MMRR harder to get

Have the option of switching our AK or HS days based on FP availability.

planning in doing these two parks on 60+1 and 60+3 days (May 12 & 14).

which day should we plan for which park?
which FP will be harder to get, with preference going to getting morning FPs if at all possible.

I don't know which will be harder. Both will be hard. You probably won't have the option for either on 60+1, and you'll have to just cross your fingers & hope for one on 60+3.

Make two sets plans for getting either one of them on 60+3, and try both parks at your FP+ opening time. If you see either at any time, grab it. Early morning probably won't be an option with 60+3. Make plans for other rides on 60+1. And also make contingency plans in case you can't get either on 60+3.

We were able to get an afternoon FOP on 60+2 right at 7am for end of April. There was nothing for MMRR.

Well, according to the most updated FP availability, MMRR is harder to get. Why? Let's see the math!
FOP is currently available at 60+1. Albeit for afternoon only for 60+1 through 60+3. But then it has morning availability again.

MMRR is not available until 60+3, and is only available for afternoon all the way until 60+6.

Mathematically speaking, MMRR is currently harder to get.

Is the consensus to try to get something for 60+3 and then try for 60+1 next...or should I try to get totally lucky and look at 60+1 first in hopes that I could maybe get both (assuming two afternoon times)?

I just did my FPs yesterday for a 4/29 check-in, with park days on 4/30, 5/1, 5/2, and 5/3. FoP was available for all 4 of my park days. 4/30 it was late afternoon and evening options, but still, available. Other days it was available for pretty much any time. MMRR was not available at all on 4/30. Only available after 6 PM on 5/1, and then early afternoon availability on 5/2 and 5/3. So I ended up with FoP late afternoon on 4/30, which works fine for our park hopping plans that day and MMRR mid afternoon on 5/2 and early afternoon on 5/3.

I really wish that if we had park hoppers we could book FP at different parks. The only ride I want to FP at Epcot is FEA. No desire for anything else that’s tier 2. But then I need to 2 FP there anyway.

But after you use your Epcot FP+ you can book one at another park. In case you didn't know this.

OP, If I were you, I'd put MMR on the 60+3 day, book MMRR first when you do your FP+, then immediately do FoP on 60+1. Be aware that you might end up with late-afternoon or evening times for both. I just did my FP+ yesterday and MMRR was available only in the evening for my 60+2 day. I didn't look at 60+1 for MMRR, but I got FoP late afternoon for 60+1.

Remember that you don't have to book all your park FP+s for any particular day. Do the hard-to-get ones first, then go back and fill in.

The problem is that availability would then get even harder for the top rides as people could just grab the best FP at 3 different parks.

I knew that I could, but can I only use 1 FP at Epcot and then get same day passes at other parks without using my 2? Or I need to use all 3 at Epcot first?

You can make FP's at a second park once you tap the FP at the first park. So you could have 1 in advance, tap it, and then add 2 at a second park (or one at a second park and one at a third park). Or you could make 2 at the first park and then add a FP at a second park as soon as you tap the first FP (even though you still have one remaining at the first park).

You do not need to use all 3 at Epcot. After you've tapped in for one, you can then get one at another park. But there's some complex thing that occurs after that if you're staying in the park you hopped to, since your first park's FP+ doesn't count for anything on your 2nd park's total. As I understand it--and I admit that I don't understand this fabulously well.

However, I have experience with this. Used one FP+ for TSM at DHS, then got a FP+ for FoP at DAK and hopped over there. I'm 98% sure I would have to have used 2 2nd-tier FP+s at DAK before they'd let me try for FoP/NRJ again.

This is all discussed at length--and often with an insane level of detail--on the FP+ thread.

Oh wow. I didn’t realize this. I thought I had to complete 3 at one park first and then I could add on

I was not aware of this, either! Thats awesome. So, how does this work for parks with tiers? For example, could I use my MMRR at DHS, then switch over to Epcot and look for FEA?

When park hopping you can also get tier 1's in each park if you were to do 3 parks. If you do 2 parks then you would still have to use a tier 2 FP in one of the parks prior to being able to add a third tier 1.

Correct....once you tap into MMRR you could start to look for FEA.
