FOP FP wait times

So after 10 days of refreshing, I finally got a FP for FOP at 5:25pm (yay!). Our plan was always to rider swap as we have a 2yo who can't ride it. However, we also have a 6:25pm ADR at Boma. Touring plans says it should be ok as if we get there at 5:20pm, it says we should done by 6pm. Is that realistic? I've heard about some of the chambers closing and people having long wait times but not sure how often that happens.

Our initial plan (before we got the FP) was to leave AK by 6pm to catch the bus to AKL, but as a backup plan, if we're running late, I figured we can take an Uber to Boma as I heard that's only a 5 minute ride, but not sure if that's even enough to make our ADR.

I thinks that’s seriously tight, nearing impossible considering there is a long pre-show. Boma is a pretty easy reservation to get, can’t you just move it to a bit later?

Try to get to FoP at 5:15. I can confirm we entered the FP line 7 minutes before our return window when, surprisingly, the FP touchpoints turned green.

You do have a grace period of 15 minutes or so for your Boma ADR.

Hopefully you won't experience what we did at FoP this past August. Walked right in with our FP+ until we got to the sorting area - we then waited for over 15 minutes, as two groups of people had to be backed out of the chambers and cycled through the pre-shows ahead of us. Then they had issues with a man on an ECV who was supposedly too large to go on, (or so he said) and he was putting up a fuss before he even got into the pre-show, wanting so much attention from the multiple CMs that were called in to assist. It was so strange - the CMs were letting him go try, but he was really putting up a stink about not fitting on before/ it really didn't make sense to any of us listening in - why did he even queue up then, if he was so sure he wouldn't fit? All I could come up with was that he was a DAS user, and he was trying to get his party on without him. WE got moved around him, and then got held up in the first room as it cycled and cycled and cycled... Second room went quickly, thank goodness, and then we got on the vehicles and were off to Pandora! But it took a really long time to get through - although I didn't note the time we got out.

ETA - typo - changed it so it makes more sense!

So if I get there by 5:15, you think it's feasible that we'll reach Boma at 6:40pm (our ADR is at 6:25pm, so I added the 15 mins grace period there), even with the rider swap?

I really hope we won't get that experience too!!

If the loading lines are backed up, it took us 26 minutes from the time we tapped to reaching the first video room, it will be tight. Could you return after Boma to use the Swap Pass? Or, save it to use on another day? Or, see what ADRs may be available at Tiffins?

Also, keep Modifying your FoP FP to see if you can book an earlier time.

Ironically enough, a 7pm opening came up at Boma, so I snagged that even though it's a little late for dinner for the kids, but I'm going to keep it in my back pocket. And yes, I'm going to keep a lookout for an earlier FOP FP (sigh, I hate the idea of having to keep refreshing and searching for this elusive FOP FP!)

You are trying to get in 2 rides on FoP in about 30-45 min? It will be VERY tight. The FP waits aren't long, we've not waited more than 5 min to reach the merge point, even after they did the recent dump to add in more FP but the ride itself, counting the 2 pre-shows, is lengthy. Plus you have a wait after you merge with stand by riders, to get to the sorting room. You can get 1 ride in that time frame but I can't see you getting 2 done unless things run extremely perfectly

Did you have a 2nd day at AK by chance? Your rider swap will be valid for several days, if not an entire month, if you can work in a time to return even another day

The next ADR available is at 8:10pm which is way too late for my 5yo and 2yo :(
In case you aren't aware, you won't be able to use Uber unless you have your own booster seat for the 5 yo. By FL law, both of your children will need a car seat and Uber vehicles only have 1

Minnie Vans however, are an option and will have 2 car seats.

Really? So what do people do when they take a cab? In Toronto (& other cities like Chicago, Vancouver, & NY), if we’re taking a cab or Uber to/from the airport, the cities don’t expect us to have car seats, and allow (but discourage) families to use those vehicles without a car seat. What about DME? Does that require car seats & booster seats?

No, just the one day at 60+1, which is why it took me so long to find a FP.

Your kids are going to be so stimulated and off schedule by being at WDW in the first place I doubt dinner 45 mins later will make a difference. I would dump the earlier ADR and then not feel rushed to make it from FOP in time. Have a great trip!

But Uber is not a taxi service, right? it's called 'ride sharing' so they get out of all kinds of legislation that pertains to taxis. But that means they have to conform to noncommercial vehicle laws, including having kids in carseats. They can't have it both ways.

I guess it’s a moot point as I found a later ADR so we should be able to take the bus to AKL, but I’m glad I know this now as I had thought of taking an Uber from Boma to our resort.

Not sure if this helps, but I was just trying to learn more about child swap and the second 'group' of people going with the child swap pass have 2-3 days (reports are conflicting) to use the pass. Not sure about your other touring plans, but perhaps you could return to AK to use the pass if it was cutting things tight.

Have a great time! FOP is worth the extra maneuvering. I’d also bet Boma will take you early if they have room, in case you get over there a bit before 7.
