Foot Washing at a wedding

Psst. You can have sex without being married.
Oh, Baby you’re preaching to the choir! The bride we are referring to in the previous post was a virgin and the return of her promise ring was part of the ceremony. Maybe you missed that…

Since you didn't quote the post you were referring to, it came off as a general comment. And no, I didn't miss it, since I commented on it.

Yes, that’s the one!
Thanks for clarifying. I was wondering why your comment didn’t make sense to me!đŸ™„đŸ¤£
Fornication’s been around forevah!đŸ‘¬

I have heard of it done at weddings before. It's not really something I would want to see but frankly sometimes there are other things at weddings that you'd like to not see or at least not hear (more talking about droning on and on and on). It's a personal preference--not one I would do but I can't say I would be disgusted either...that is unless I could actually smell the feet :faint:. I do agree though one should probably spruce up the feet if one is going to do this.

I've never heard of it at a wedding, that seems really odd to me. I know some Catholic churches do it during holy week after mass on Holy Thursday.
Not just Catholic churchers, Episcopal and Lutheran churches do it at as well during Holy Week. However, I've never seen or heard of it being done at a wedding.

Did the foot washing at the wedding only happen with between the bride and groom or all the guests as well? Seems a bit odd to do this at a wedding, especially if all of the guests participated.

Just the bride and groom. I would have been OUT if guests were included.đŸ˜¬

Some faiths consider it to be one of the sacraments of the church, so it is very traditional and done for important services and occasions. It should feel quite personal and intimate because it is meant to be. It is a form of humble, sacrificial service to show love for another person -- that's very personal! And feeling uncomfortable is pretty normal -- that happens to many people, especially because not many churches keep this tradition now. I've seen/experienced it most often as part of a Good Friday service, not usually at a wedding.

In the Catholic Church, foot washing is a part of the Holy Thursday mass, not Good Friday.

You can??!!!! :lmao: I love John Crist. I remember the whole Foot Washing thing was "the thing to do" when I was getting married. I thought it stupid, so we didn't do it. I can't remember if any weddings I went to actually did it, but my mom has been toa few weddings where it was done. I get the symbolism of it, but not for me.

I have been to tons of Baptist weddings. Not a foot washing in the bunch.

The bride also gave her promise ring back to her parents at the start of the ceremony and at the end, she was hopping on her toes before she was told she could kiss her husband. I told her mother that it was cute that she was so excited to be married. Her mother told me while that is true, she was probably more excited for her first kiss. :rolleyes1

Omg that is bizarre

My cousin did this at her wedding. I was in the back of the church and had to keep pinching my leg so I didn't lol.

I understand it on Holy Thursday, but at a wedding!?! Um, no. Plus, all the groom had to do was slip her shoes back on her feet. The bride had to force his foot into his shoe and then tie the laces. That's what loafers are made for, buddy... but I digress.

I thought promise rings were what you gave your Girl Friend Forever in High school only to dump her when you went away to college.
