Food & Wine & Friends, or 'Wishing a Year Away'. October 2012 PTR *NEW 11/18 TR link!

Artist Point it is! Since it's a completely new place to all of us, it won out over California Grill. I am still disappointed that we'll miss out on HDDR, since I was really looking forward to Hilde & Sebastian seeing it for the first time. But I am happy to have another plan now!

And.... the trip is officially 6 months away now. Woo-hoo!!! Still feels like friggin forever from now, but it's something! 3 more days till I can make ADRs.

So our Day 8 plans have us going back to the Animal Kingdom and lunch is planned to be at Tusker House- one of our friend's favorites. I was skeptical cause it's now a character meal, but since the menu still looks good, we're gonna do it! Plus, the pictures will be fun to have!

I am assuming we'll be done with the park after lunch, and be able to take a break and enjoy our wonderful resort. Dinner is going to consist of delicious goodies from the Food&Wine Festival. I am tentatively planning on stopping by Port Orleans Riverside for Yee-haw Bob's show later on. I think he'll be a very fun way to end our last full day at Disney.

Have you ever seen Yeehaw Bob's show? I can't believe I stayed at POR for over a week in 2010 and we didn't even bother seeing it, it's supposed to be so much fun!

We loved Artist Point! Neither Zach nor I got seafood, so i think your friends will be fine! The buffalo steak was especially delicious! Good choice!

Today we are officially 180 days from the October trip!
This morning, I got up a bit early so I would have time to book ADRs before work. And I made one. But the website wouldn't acknowledge my trip reservation to let me make the rest for the week. So I could've slept a bit longer, as it turns out. I won't leave you in suspense: Ben called to book them and we got everything.

Ben had much better luck with his job of tour booking. Keys to the Kingdom and World Showcase Segway Tour are both all set!

We learned a few useful bits of info:
Hoop Dee Do Revue is going to be closed. Also, the Haunted Carriage ride and MNSSHP dates should be out in early May. That's according to DVC member services, for whatever their knowledge is worth

So as a recap, here are our ADRs:
10/13 Sanaa dinner
10/14 San Angel Inn dinner
10/15 Sci Fi lunch, Raglan Road dinner
10/16 Liberty Tree Tavern dinner
10/17 nothing planned (except F&W... though I may end up adding something!)
10/18 Mama Melrose dinner
10/19 Artist Point dinner
10/20 Tusker House lunch
10/21 Departure day, I didn't plan anything. Once again, this could change!
I haven't really planned anything for our last day- our flight is late, so we will have time for some fun, and I figure we'll just go wherever we feel like to postpone the dread of leaving.

Still have to wait 6 months, but at least I am going in less than 3 weeks!!

I'm surprised you can't book the Haunted Carriage Ride yet, I thought you could do it at 180 days? I'm pretty sure they do them every night in October, so you will be able to get whatever day you want. I booked mine pretty late, and I still got the time and date I wanted!

Yay for ADRs ! Sorry you had the same troubles I did. It's the worst getting up specifically for that and then having to wait an hour to call. But that's great you got everything. Nice ADRs! Are all of them for all 4 of you? Or are some of them just for you and Ben?

I think I asked this on FB but I can't remember... have you done the Segway tour before? I'm thinking about surprising my DH on our trip... maybe. If you've done it, can you tell me about it? How many people are in a group, etc?

Your ADRs look great! Everyone seems to be having that problem with online dining, especially if you have a DVC reservation number. I'm impatiently waiting on the haunted carriage ride's 'official' dates - I already know what date & time and I just need Disney to let me book!

It's frustrating about the Carriage ride... even though you can technically book it 180 days out, since they haven't 'officially' released the dates, we can't yet. Stoopids.

It was annoying! And even though I kept telling myself that nothing we wanted should be hard to get, I couldn't help thinking we were missing out.

All the meals are for the 4 of us... there's really only one day that we are planning on splitting up. Which may seem like a lot, but the 4 of us spend lots of time together and have yet to get sick of it...

We haven't done the Segway tour yet. When we did Backstage Magic, we saw a tour in the World Showcase and it seemed like a fairly small group. They also seemed to be enjoying themselves!

When Ben spoke to DVC Member Services, they told him that the problem is that certain restaurants won't let you book 180 +10. I was like, 'No..... it's the stupid website that won't let you, jerk faces'

Whoo for the 180 day mark! And for having your ADRs officially chosen and reserved. Until I get that confirmation page printed I don't feel like it's real, so it's nice when you know 100% you have a meal picked out for that particular day.

OMG, I am sooooooo excited about May! Just 19 more days the best part about that trip is that I won't be as sad when it's over because I'll still have this big October trip to look forward to!!

Thankfully was still able to get what I wanted. (except a few times are a little bit different than I had hoped.)

Weird, I don't see my favorite 'haha face' smiley over there. This one will have to do: That CM's comment is awesome- and so true. Ben was siding with CM he talked to, and I couldn't get him to understand what the problem was- but you describe it perfectly!

I also enjoy writing TR's.. although I have only done them for 3 of my DL trips... I think it helps me in remembering to take pictures if I am planning to do a TR! Otherwise I forget things (However the opposite is true as well, there are times I should put my camera down and enjoy what is going on!)
