Food & Wine & Friends, or 'Wishing a Year Away'. October 2012 PTR *NEW 11/18 TR link!

I'm glad you get to do HDDR on this trip! I read somewhere that since it will no longer be closed this Fall, the Haunted Carriage Ride might happen, but I'm not sure how reliable that was! I can't even remember where I read it! :rotfl: Is HDDR really that much fun? I'd love to see it someday, but Brandon thinks it looks stupid! :confused3

Just one more thing you guys will have a blast doing! I envy you a bit with your "adult" fun time. Most of my disney trips cater more to a young princess age group.

Glad you got a HDDR reservation! I was thinking about it but really didn't want to change my plans around again. Oh well!

Yay glad you get to go, though AP is a really fantastic meal, too! I also hope the haunted carriage rides come back.

When is flag day? Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead! Looks like it's going to be pretty nice, too. We're spending Saturday in Salem!

We are also going to be there the week you are going however weare arriving on Mon Oct 15.

I hope you have a fantastic time! I am so excited to be going in October!!

If Brandon thinks it looks stupid- he probably won't like it. It really IS super cheesy. I just happen to love cheesy stuff!

I'm going to check on the haunted carriage rides, but now I'm not sure if it'll fit in since we'll be doing HDDR later with the new show times.

Since we don't have kids- all time is adult fun time! :rotfl: Eventually our friends will start their families and Ben and I will have to either entertain each other or find new friends :lmao:

I hadn't changed my plans around very much, so it was a pretty easy thing. Though I am sad so miss Artist Point, it was never on the list for this trip anyway. We will definitely go their next time!

Flag day is today!! June 14th! But Quincy has the parade and fireworks on the closest Saturday.
Have fun in Salem!

A Flag Day celebration sounds like fun! I love this time of year-- it seems like people are willing to have a party for just about anything! :thumbsup2
Glad HDDR is back for October-- looks like you and Ben really dig it from the pictures!!

Yay for the ressie change back to HDDR! Nice when things happen like that.

I'm so excited for the MNSSHP I just booked tickets for a second one! Decided we are going to do a mother/son night and focus on characters and rides. That way we can do the parade, fireworks and other stuff with his friends later in the week.

I like your plans! It is good that you will have some couples alone time on the trip! We have never been to MNSSHP, but we really want to go! Is the DVC discount better than the AP discount?

Whenever I book anything, I ask if the rate is any better between the 3 discounts we have because it varies (DVC, AP, Disney Visa).

I can't remember if DVC was better than AP or exactly the same for MNSSHP, but I know I used DVC. (I don't think there was a Disney Visa discount at all.)

We used Disney Visa for our tours (Keys to the Kingdom and Around the World at Epcot Segway) because that was 20% off vs. 15% for DVC or AP.

I'm not sure if they change it up from time to time to keep us on our toes, so I'd just suggest to ask when you book. :goodvibes

I'm also excited about HDDR being back on. Just need to pick the date now! Did you find out if TiW can still be used for the last show?

I've always known when Flag Day is as it is my B-day! However I've never lived anywhere where it was a celebration... that would be cool!

Good to know on the discounts as I will have an AP and Disney Visa and plan to do a tour as well as MNSSHP.

Thanks for the info! Yet another reason to bhuy DVC???? I will have my choice of discounts!

I am excited because I have a couple of weekends off in a row for a change! And any excuse for a party works for me!

Yay for adding a second MNSSHP! There's so much to do- I think you're smart to spread it out!

I see Ben helped you out here- he's the best with the different discounts and number crunching!

Hmmm, not sure about TiW- though that would be awesome! We are doing the last show, so if we can use it, it'll be a nice treat :)

Yikes, time is just flying by! I keep meaning to update this PTR and my May TR, but things have been so busy, I just haven't had the chance!

It doesn't help that my computer went wonky, either. Sebastian was able to fix it, but since I now am running Linux, I've had to make some adjustments as far as picture uploads and things like that. But I think I am finally back in business, at least with being able to update here!

The big news is that Hilde&Sebastian bought a house!!! They finally found a place and the seller was reasonable about resolving the items the inspection found. They close in less than a month!!! The best part is that they'll be living just accross town from us :goodvibes

We have another busy week coming up: going to see Avenue Q on Wednesday ( I can't wait!), then a weekend in CT with Hilde & Sebastian. Our random trip to Lake Compounce last year seems to have turned into an annual thing  We'll be heading there Saturday, for the early part of the day, then we'll visit the Thomas Hooker brewery and spend the night in Windsor, CT. Yay for roller coasters, beer, and friends!!

Our WDW trip is just 109 days away :goodvibes Ben and I always start a countdown once we hit double digits, so we are sorta counting down to that right now :rotfl: Even though time is going by quickly, I wouldn't mind if it sped up just a smidgin more... :rolleyes1

But we can always daydream about WDW in the meantime, right? So here's
Day 5, Wednesday 10/17

This is a day that we'll be splitting up. Hilde & Sebastian are going to head to Blizzard Beach, since they have never been. Ben and I did both water parks on our last trip, and we don't need to head back just yet. So we'll be leaving a bit earlier to make it to Epcot in time for another tour! This time it's the Around the World Segway tour. We decided to do the later (not that it's late, really, just not the earliest one they offer) one, since any chance to sleep in a little is probably a good idea. Our tour ends at 11:30am, and I haven't really planned anything for Ben & I in the afternoon. Depending on how long our friends stay at Blizzard Beach, we might head to another park, or just go back to BLT and relax until we re-group with them.

There's no ADR planned for dinner, I am guessing we'll head back to Epcot to eat at the F&W booths. Epcot has evening EMH, and we may stay for a bit to enjoy some adult beverages and yummy food. If we didn't get to Jellyrolls earlier in the week (or just want to go back!), we'll porbably head over there at some point.

As I am writing this, I am thinking I should make a plan for Ben & I for lunch... but I also need to remember to warn Hilde & Sebastian about the dismal food offerings at the water parks... if you read my May 2011 TR, you'll know that I had some seriously gross-tastic meals at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. I don't want them to get stuck eating that stuff!
*UPDATE*: I just made an ADR for 2pm to east at Via Napoli. I have read so many great things about it, I really want to eat there. I made the ADR for all 4 of us, in case Hilde & Sebastian end up being done at BB in time to eat with us. There is always the chance that I'll cancel this and stick with the plan to just relax, but I wanted to at least have the option!

You had computer issues too??? I'm going crazy with no computer, it's been unusable since Friday and I'm just about losing my patience!!!

I am ready for my trip to be in double digits! I always make a countdown calendar when we get to 99 days! I think we are in the 130's now?

Your day 5 plans look great! I really want to do a tour in november, the Segway one sounds fun I'm just afraid I'd fall!

Yay for Hilde and Sebastian moving so close to you!!! :goodvibes

Via Napoli sounds like a great ADR choice for you guys! I always hear such great things about it!

Via Napoli was soooo good in january! We liked our food and "view" :rotfl: so much I had to change our last meal of the trip to going back there. I have another reservation for there on the trip with Ann.:thumbsup2

We ate at Via Napoli the other week and even though I don't want to spoil my TR (if I ever get it started!) I will tell you that it was AH-MAZ-ING!! You won't be sorry for eating there! :goodvibes

I have both a reservation for Via Nappoli and Le Cellier based on reviews... unfortunately one needs to be canceled and I can't decide which!! I'm actually starting to think I need to cancel a few other ADR's to make more room for F&W snacking!! However I will wait till menu's and the events for F&W are out to make any more changed to my ADR's... I'm hoping we hear more about F&W soon!!!

The rest of your plans sound great. I think the Segway tour sounds awesome.. the weight limit is a bummer for us though so we won't be able to do it...

I've never been to any of the Disney Waterparks... I guess I should go read some reviews of them and see if its something we might want to do...
