Food to go

Just wondering if any of the restaurants (specifically Prime Time Cafe) would let you order a meal to go. I know it's hard to get reservations sometimes and thought this might be a plan to go with!

Also, can you ever just get dessert and coffee at one of the more upscale restaurants (like the one in France).

Thanks :wave2:

Disney have introduced a rule that prohibits carryout from their restaurants. It is believed they have done this for one of 2 reasons.

1. Person on the dining plan were attempting to get a meal from a restaurant for a counter service credit. This the customers believed proper as they were not sitting down and getting service. When they were told no, there would be an almighty stooshie about it. This apparently happened enough for Disney to simply ban carryout to prevent this issue.

2. The restaurants are so busy due to the dining plan, the kitchens cannot cope with carry out as well.

Whatever one you believe, its the dining plan to blame!

As for your second point. If you can get a table, ou can order what you like. I have done as you describe a few times at various restaurants. Never had an ADR at these times. Simply walked up and waited for 45 mins or so.

In EPCOT, most of the eateries have a retail shop/bakery that carries items already boxed up for take out. Liquor/cocktails by the glass as well. Germany and France come to mind quickly...Norway too. And in the other parks be sure to check out the small food stands and courts sprinkled throughout as they do what I call "pick ups". DHS has an entire side of Sunset Blvd dedicated to this type of dining. You can definitely get enough to carry back to the room to eat or take to an outside sitting area close by and munch/sip::yes:: away. We enjoyed Illuminations one year by ala carting it from the Mexican snack stand. The selection servings are large and satisfying. Park maps would show the location or get on allearsnet.com for a complete listing. School Bread from Norway is one of my "pick ups" in June because I've heard so many good things about it recently on the board.:coffee:

No. Disney Table Service restaurants are not equipped or staffed to serve both the Guests seated at tables, and take-out orders. You can get an appetizer at the bar, but that's as close as you can get to take-out at Prime Time (and most restaurants don't even have bars for customers).

You probably could have just coffee and dessert - do you mean Bistro de Paris? I know people who've gone and had EVERY dessert at one seating, instead of any entree, but it doesn't seem like a just-coffee-and-dessert type place. But you can ask.
