Food Sensitivity Test?

Curious if anyone has done a mail-in food sensitivity test. I have been considering ordering the Everlywell brand.

Did the results make sense to you? Were you able to eliminate offending foods and did it make a difference in your overall health or well being?
 
I have severe IBS that my gastroenterologist couldn't control so I went to a nutrition clinic. They ran a hair follicle test for food sensitivity. It turns out that I have a ton of food sensitivities and once I eliminated them my IBS settled down. It's very difficult to eat such a strict diet though so I'm right now trying to figure out how much, if any, I can safely eat of the moderate sensitivity foods. The results were very detailed and easy to follow. The company is called "Check My Body Health."
 
I would be wary of such a test since I noticed it said it cannot identify lactose intolerance or celiac disease. Also, it's not suitable for allergy detection, the company's website says.

If it's unable to pinpoint lactose intolerance, then I doubt it can spot casein (milk protein) sensitivity either. What's left for common dairy triggers? Nothing, as far as I'm aware.

I suggest trying a nutrition clinic such as tcufrog did if possible where you live or another in-person facility. It seems to me the testing and interpretation would be much more precise as well as giving you the opportunity to ask questions.

I was diagnosed with IBS over 20 years ago when pinpointing food allergies and intolerances was somewhat less evolved than today. Simple trial and error enabled me to determine that I'm gluten and casein intolerant. A food log of everything I ate was essential for me to narrow down what was triggering my flares although I was pretty sure dairy was involved. Lactose-free milk made no difference, nor did other animal milks.

Have you tried eliminating the most common allergens and then gradually reintroducing them one-by-one? Your own elimination diet? If not, that may be all you need to determine what you react to.
 
For IBS, the best course for pinpointing food sensitivities is a FODMAP diet elimination. It's what everyone recommended until I went to the clinic. I tried it but it so was difficult and stressful to do that I gave up.
 

Food sensitivity tests can be great to do. They look for immune system reactions to the proteins in the food you are eating. So they aren't allergy tests but more immunological tests. I agree you should go with a test that can have someone interpret the results for you. I recommend equi.life as for every lab test you do through them they are reviewed by a naturopathic doctor and you get a health coach call that explains all the results to you and gives you recommendations.

Overall if you have sensitivities you have gut dysfunction and most likely leaky gut. You need to heal your gut and then you shouldn't have the sensitivities anymore. Good luck!

DD did one of the mail-in tests and discovered one of her highest sensitivities is to egg protein, both in the yolk and the white. She's stopped eating eggs and has noticed a difference in her "issues." It was interesting to see the protein sensitivities and compare them to what her allergist determined. Just be prepared- sometimes they require a blood sample. DD discovered she couldn't stick herself and posted a "come help me" on FB to get someone to do the test on her!
