Food prices going through the roof!

When you're only cooking for a couple people, it's still better to buy in bulk and repackage it. You can even make a couple of meatloaves and freeze them. Pull it out for a quick dinner when you don't have time to make a bigger one.

Taking my life in my hands here by mentioning the word "lake" - LOL :rotfl: - but when I'm at the lake alone, I do "batch" cooking.. Big pan of mashed potatoes, several servings of veggies, several servings of meat,- spaghetti; casseroles; etc.. I then make my "own" tv dinners in sectioned off freezer/microwave containers.. That way I don't have to cook till I start to run out - just pop one in the microwave - yet I still save money by purchasing in bulk and cooking in "batches"..:santa:

I agree grocery prices are going way up. Thank goodness milk here is still ok though. $1.58 at Costco, $1.78 at Walmart and $1.99 at Target.

Yeah, I haven't seen horrible milk prices. Even Giant Eagle has it for around $2.50. If I buy 8 gallons of gasoline at UDF(the cheapest around here) I can get two for $1.99@.

I shop at two stores every week or so and buy what's on sale or cheapest at each place while supplementing with things like UDF milk. I plan our weekly meals based on what's on sale and buy giftcards for necessary purchases which lowers my gasoline prices and my gasoline purchases lower my grocery prices. Right now I have 20% off up to $300 which saves me $60 right off the bat. I'll be doing that shopping next week in preparation for all the holiday meals.
