Oh I've forgotten how much I miss this thread. We usually go to WDW every spring but since I lost my job in November we aren't able to this year :<(. My BFF is taking her twins at the end of September and really wants us to go with them. After seeing all this yummy food I want to go! If I can find a job in the next month or so I just might have to find a way to go. I need all the pixie dust I can right now.

Sorry that you lost your job. Hope you find something quickly and are able to get back down there this fall. Hope this helps pixiedust: and so I don't get flamed for being off topic, here is a pic.

Garden View Lounge Afternoon Tea at the GF

"Our traditional tea sandwiches...

IMG_5129Small.jpg

If I remember correctly - it was a shrimp salad, chicken salad, pear and gorgonzola, and a cucumber watercress. Both plates above ware without the shrimp, the first has an extra chicken salad, the second has a jelly on white (for a toddler). The chicken salad was my favorite.

There is also an onion tartlet, which sounds wrong, but is good.

"...scones and jam tarts...

IMG_5137Small.jpg

YUMM-O. The cream in the back is Devonshire Cream, and we had a sampling of both strawberry and raspberry jams. The raspberry tart was VERY sweet.

"...complemented by fresh strawberries and cream, or a selection of freshly baked pastries,

Fried Calamari at Il Mulinos - so so so delicious. FYI the sauce is a bit spicy (just the way I like it)
3212567765_25484b5312.jpg

Arancini AKA rice balls. These are delicious almost as good as my sister makes! Again the sauce is spicy but oh so tasty!

Spaghetti Carbonara at Il Mulino - I don't usually order this out because my mom makes it so delicious but since I've been to Il Mulino a couple of times I risked it and I am SO glad I did it was outstanding and it was good leftover the next day too!!
3212570451_bacffac1ca.jpg

My friend Diana ordered the Bucatini she said it was good and my mom had ordered it there back in May and loved it

Half of the Tuna Sandwich at the Old Key West Snack bar- it was very big and pretty good.
IMG_2170.jpg

Jiko- Lamb Loin (it was just alright, my husband got the short ribs and LOVED them, he said they were melt in your mouth, but he wouldn't let me take a picture).
IMG_2197.jpg

Earl of Sandwich- The Thanksgiving special sandwich (I don't remember exactly what it was called, but it was pretty good, even though it looks gross in the picture).
IMG_1994.jpg

I have reviews in the trip report in my siggie if you need them- enjoy!

Here is a picture of the Thanksgiving sandwich from Earl of Sandwich. It is the one on the left. The other sandwich is Le Frenchy. They are both great.

I know it looks messy, but is very delicious. I love having this type of sandwich.

My DW and I had dinner at Jiko a few weeks ago. Soo yummy.

Bread with sundried tomato butter.
Disney2009205.jpg

We shared the Pokanoket Farm Seared Ostrich Filet - with creamed sweet potatoes and pomegranate gastrique. I have no idea what a pomegranate gastrique is, but the Ostrich was amazingly good. It was tender, juicy and absolutely the best steak I've ever tasted. It was very hard to share this with DW.
ostridge.jpg

For my entree, I had the Swahili Curry Shrimp - with East African Curry Sauce, Artichokes, and Coconut Rice. Mmm..I love curry and I love shrimp, so this was perfect for me. It was also a huge portion, so if you are looking for something to split, this would be ideal. It is spicy, but I love spicy, so I was happy.
shrimpcurry.jpg

DW got the Nantucket Scallops - with Butternut Squash Gratin, Apple Slaw, and Apple Vinaigrette. I had no idea that there was a Nantucket in Africa! Regardless of where the scallops were from, they were also quite tasty. She got 4 large scallops on top of the squash with the apple slaw next to it. Quite the pretty presentation.

scallops.jpg

Dessert time! I had to try the passionfruit panna cotta with roasted pineapple, spiced caramel, and coconut-curry sorbet. I haven't ever even heard of a panna cotta before and curry ice cream sounded really interesting. It was actually quite good! the panna cotta was like a vanilla flan and got a lot of flavor from the curry ice cream. I love pineapple, so anything with sweet pineapple appeals to me. I would get this again, it was that good.
Jikodessert2.jpg

DW got the House-Made Meyer Lemon Curd - With pomegranate and blueberry compote, white chocolate biscotti, and sour cream ice cream. She liked the lemon curd, but didn't seem that thrilled with the sour cream ice cream. She said it was "an interesting mix of flavors".
Jikodessert.jpg

Lunch at Tutto Italia! All I can say is...wow. We will certainly be back. I wouldn't want to eat this heavy food in August, but in January, pasta is perfect. We had a gorgeous waiter whose name I've completely forgotten, but he was lovely to look at and provided very good service.

Bread, olives and olive oil
Disney2009190.jpg

Olive oil after we asked for some balsamic vinegar to be added. Find the hidden Mickey!
Disney2009192.jpg

I had the Tagliatelle alla Primavera, which is tagliatelle egg pasta with zucchini, broccoli, peas, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a light cream sauce.
Disney2009195.jpg

DW had Bucatini Gratinati with Italian prosciutto ham, peas and parmesan cream.
Disney2009193.jpg

We also asked what the Chef's Side Dishes were for that day and it was roasted asparagus with roasted tomatoes. Yummy, so we got an order of that to share.
Disney2009194.jpg

OMG..I was in pasta heaven. Carbs and I are good friends and this was absolutely scrumptious. It was a large plate of pasta and I have to admit I ate nearly the whole thing. The asparagus was also roasted perfectly and still had a nice snap to it. Very, very good.

For dessert I had the Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce and while I didn't think I'd be able to eat more than a couple bites, it was soooo tasty that I ate the whole thing!
Disney2009198.jpg

DW had cream filled puff pastry with hot chocolate sauce poured on top. Her dessert didn't last long either.
