Food Network, who's your favorite? and not so much?

Lenny, the cowboy who won NFNS will not be getting his show due to saying some very vulgar things about some of the women on Food Network.

Love Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen, forget the rest.

Love: Alton Brown, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay; Ted Allen, Duff Goldman and Morimoto!!

Like: Chopped judges (Alex, Aaron, Amanda, etc except one)

Meh: Anne Burrell (she can cook, but hate the attitude)
Tyler Florence---I like him as a judge on FTR, dislike his cooking
Robert Irvine

Dislike:
Chopped Geoffrey Zakarian He comes across as a pompous you-know-what
Rachel Ray seems fake to me--the way she talks to people just gets on my nerves.
Ree Drummond, same thing
Giada---we get you're Italian
Jeff Mouro (too lame)
Sandra Dee--- semi homemade? is that like semi pregnant?:lmao:
Curtis Stone--he's so annoying
Damaris (from FNS) she sets my teeth on edge

The only Food Network show I watch is "The Best Thing I Ever Made." My favorites on that show have been Ann Burrell and Alton Brown.

My favorite is, without a doubt, Alton Brown. Alton is my first go-to when I'm making something new, I always start with his version. I miss Good Eats

I also love Ina Garten (her spaghetti recipe is my favorite!)

I have never seen Ree Drummond on Food Network, but I have long loved the Pioneer Woman website, I use quite a few of her recipes.

My funny Chopped episode...

I always wondered how these judges don't seem to have a problem eating anything. This this one episode comes on where the judge HATES raw onions. 2 contestants put it in the first dish and he had a little problem. They are around for round 2 and both do it....again! One realizes but can't do much about it and the other is all "I like raw onions". The judge was fit to be tied. Final round is chef who didn't use onions and Mr "I like raw onions".

Onion guy makes a joke about not using onions and Onion judge gives him stink eye.

The chef who didn't use onions ever had a critical error--his main portion of his dessert was not complete and could not be plated. I think he served what was tantamount to a garnish. Onion guy is asked if he would allow the main portion be tasted and he smugly declines to bless this clear rules violation.

And then---the guy who couldn't plate his dessert WINS. Onion hating judge swears that it wasn't about the onions. I did not believe him.

Karma loves to play with me.

Winning Lottery numbers -- no. Lenny being thrown off the FoodNetwork -- sure! :sad2:

This. I can't watch her, the "spageehti" thing drives me nuts.

I agree, and I lived in Italy for several years. I think her affected pronunciation would sound forced and over the top there, in the same way it does here.

I use Ina's recipes more than anyone else's. I think she is a really great cook, and teacher.

Other great cooks (IMO) are Anne Burrell, Tyler Florence, and Giada. I have had good results with some of their recipes.

As far as irritating stars, Sandra Lee tops my list. The long sleeves while cooking and her tablescapes are laughable. Next would be the Farmhouse Rules woman. I just can't listen to her.

Don't like Ina at all. She seems far too snooty.

I don't see Ina as snooty at all. Obviously, she and Jeffrey are very successful. She was an analyst I believe in the Carter White House and Jeffery is a successful attorney. I think they have worked hard and are enjoying the fruits of their labor. I read recently that she always has friends on her show because you "can't fake a party". Apparently, she is terrified when they are taping. She doesn't love that part. Anyway, I think Ina and her husband make a lovely couple.

I think she is a wonderful teacher.

Favorite: Alton Brown

Least Favorite: Alex Guarnacelli

That's what I think! Oh my gosh I am insanely envious if her beautiful home and grounds - but they've woked hard so why not enjoy what they can afford and have!

Since several have commented on her wealth and friends--I was not referring to that at all.

She comes across as snooty to me in her delivery. I don't find her relatable.

Sandra Lee does as well--but she is worse.

I don't judge the FN chefs on their home or sets.

Alton Brown forever and ever. I miss Good Eats. Sigh.

My mom really likes Ina Garten, but there's something about her voice and demeanor that really puts me off. And her whole Hamptons lifestyle is just so non-relatable to me that it kind of gets on my nerves. Who DOESN'T have a local gourmet cheese shop within walking distance of their estate in which to purchase their $50 camembert? :rolleyes2

Also dislike Jeff Mauro, and Sandra Lee, even though she's not on FN anymore. But she was epically bad. Anyone ever see her make her legendary Kwanzaa Cake? :rotfl2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we2iWTJqo98

Don't know if this counts since she's technically on Cooking Channel and not FN, but Nadia G from B-in' Kitchen. OH MY GOD CANNOT STAND HER. At all.

I have a crush on Tyler Florence. He's delicious.

His head is HUGE! We bumped into him in Florida(at Emeril's) and he caught our attention as hey look at that big head(we all have big heads in our family and giggle whn we spot others) but his head is the Grand Poobah of big heads.

Back on topic
I love watching cutthroat kitchen with my kids.
I enjoy Pioneer Woman(although i know someone who knows her irl and hates her) what do I know? She cooks the type of meat and potatoes my family likes.
Not really loving much else onthere lately. I prefer the Cooking Channel and Chuck (swoon:blush:)

Hate Bobby Flay! He comes off rather full of himself with all the Let's beat shows.

Oh and one more. I met Sandra Lee at a book signing and she was so nice! Funny too. She served drinks! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed meeting her.

I have to admit, although she drives me crazy with "the good vanilla" (always has to smell it) and "how easy was that," I still have more of Ina Garten's cookbooks and have made more of her recipes than any of the other chefs on FoodTV. Her recipes are actually really good. Friends now beg for my (her) Parmesan Roasted Broccoli. (It's delicious!)

To a previous poster, she doesn't have a cheese shop within walking distance. I have a home nearby and all of those cheese stores are between a 6 to 20 minute drive from her house. (We pass her house all the time & often see her walking from house to her barn.)

And, although I've never been introduced to her, I started going to The Barefoot Contessa store on the 1980s. My sister actually did meet her and spent quite a bit of time with her in another (unmentioned) state when she was responsible for the set up for her local cookbook signing. She confirmed, what I had always heard, that Ina is very shy and uncomfortable with crowds and people in general. Most of the guests on her show are locals (real estate agents, small store owners, florists) that have known her for years and with whom she feels comfortable.

I was sorry I could not be at that book signing in the other state, because I would have told her I was a neighbor & tried to wrangle a dinner invitation!
And, Jeffrey's field is global economics and finance. He's been at the Yale School of Management, as Dean for quite a few years, since the mid-1990s; the White House under Clinton, and Wall Street before that.

And, no I'm NOT stalking her, it's just really a small community and she does a lot of charity work so gets a lot of local press! (I know, more than anyone wanted to know about Ina Garten.)

I like Trisha Yearwood, Chopped, Food Truck Race, Guy's Grocery Games.
Trisha Yearwood because she makes food a lot of people actually do make and eat at home. I watch Chopped and a lot of other shows but honestly, is there that many people who cook in duck fat and eat raw meat?

I watch Pioneer Woman even though she says "ok" way too much. I have to admit, I saw her twice tell her husband he was first to be served because he was working hard and that did me in with her. I'm a firm believer kids are first.

I also like the new holiday baking show however, that one girl that looks and sounds like a dark haired Damaris is actually Damaris' friend. Their mouths are even similar.

I also like the show that's on after Trisha Yearwoods, the one in Minnesota?

I cannot stand the Farmhouse Rules and she's a judge on the holiday baking show. She would have a good show if she didn't sound so fake.

LOVE The Barefoot Contessa, for some reason I can always just kick back and relax while watching her. I seem to get lost in her show.

I CANNOT stand Giada and RR seems to have gone 'stale'
