Food Network... Birthday Cake Challenge... anyone watching???

The cake that won was my choice and Zane's cake was wonderful too. The disaster cake was awful. There are no words to describe that thing. It wasn't a cake, it was a bunch of dowels with smashed cake around it.

I've checked out her website. Nothing looks very good.

I would have had some respect for her had she made a real cake that she HATED but that might have showed if she had any real skill.

I LOLed when Kerry said, "I wasn't a child even when I WAS a child."

I think Buddy gets an idea in his head and then doesn't deviate from it even if it won't work for the client. He did the same thing on another challenge he was on.

I love his show though.

I didn't see it and have no idea who you are talking about, but I'm going to have to try to catch it on a re-run.

But, I just wanted to say about Buddy, I agree that he gets an idea in his head and it doesn't matter who the client is and what they want, he seems to just stick with that.

I got to see my recording of this last night...OMG. She is an attitude case, she doesn't care about anything or anyone but herself. Not a way to serve the public.

I was torn between the winning cake & Zane's. I think Kerry just loved the fact that the winning cake had the things she loved--the string work, it was clean, the color palette was right, etc. But Zane came into his own, that cake was beautiful, and he pulled that off under pressure.

Wow, she was such a brat. I hope she never gets invited back, what a train wreck. I really liked the winning cake and Zane's cake. Buddy's looked a little...trashy? I just didn't like the whimisical color pallete and shapes along a Chanel bag? Like thats the epitomy of sophistication. LOL. I like Buddy though, I've enjoyed his past designs and I like his personality.

Like everyone else I couldn't believe her attitude! I think she needs to find a medium other than cake to express her "art." I love the way so many artists say that people just don't "get it" if they don't like it. Plus, how would she ever sell a cake if she does what she wants rather than what the client wants?

I liked Jason's cake best, and I was glad it won. It looked just like Kerry to me, especially with the string work. I also liked Zane's and thought he did a fantastic job with the painted flowers. Buddy's was just entirely the wrong color scheme for Kerry's taste. Plus, as Keeghan said, he needs to challenge himself since he can easily make a cake in 8 hours. He needs to take on something more daring for Challenge instead of just doing the same thing over and over again.

Normally DH plays on his laptop while I watch Challenge, but this one had his attention for sure!

I agree, that was a great episode, you just couldn't walk away from it. My nieces love the challenges, especially a cake challenges. they remember every person who has ever been on one, and talk about them like they are sports stars!
