Food for Illuminations Cruise????

Deb Wills' site says you can bring your own food on an Illuminations cruise (or contact a WDW # to order food). The CM I spoke with in ''Recreation" says that you can no longer bring your own food on the pontoon boats. A CM yesterday told me there was no food or drink on the Breathless (now I'm not sure if she meant none allowed or we're not allowed to bring our own).

We can pay $20 pp (minimum of 4 people) to get sandwiches, chips, drinks, and I think a dessert. Cheese & crax, cake, or alcoholic beverages would be additional. DH thinks this might be a real splurge, although it sounds a little pricey to me. Guess I've forgotten about the cost of food at Disney!

Anyone done this? Could you give me a little more info about your choices and what you thought of the quality of the food. I'll call back and ask more info, but am interested to know if you enjoyed the food and would do it again.

Thanks.

We did an Illuminations cruise in June and the drivers told us we could go grab something to eat/drink before we left if we wanted.

I don't know if things changed since then, though. If they have and you pay that extra over ($20.00/person...wow!) and above the cost of the cruise for sandwiches and such, go and have dinner and Cape May Cafe or Shulas at the Dolphin or any of the restaurants on the Boardwalk instead before going on the cruise! For a few dollars more, you can pay for a full sit down meal at one of the restaurants!!!!! If it was me, I would not pay extra and just go and enjoy the cruise; it does not last that long to make it through without food/drink.

Thanks for the info. My thinking exactly. Although it would be fun to have food on board. that would almost pay for a good dinner. Interesting that your driver said to go grab something--- that would be nice to at least take a soda on board.

I just booked a cruise this AM and the CM said she'd worked in that dept 4 years and people were never "allowed" to bring food on board. AND, the $20 pp is a deli sandwich, snacks, and H20, soda --- for another $15 pp (total $35 pp) we also get cheese and crax and dessert. Don't think we'll do that.

We did the illuminations cruise Feb 2003 and we were able to bring food on board, though my DD was told when she made the reservations that the food had to be purchased at Disney. We just grab us some snacks on the Boardwalk. No one ask to see a receipt though. It will probably depend on the driver. :wave2:

I had talked with Capt. Ron on my cruise last Dec. and told him of my DBF's birthday cruise Jan. 16. We brought a cake w/plates, forks, napkins and a small cooler of soda. I think they would like you to keep the food to a minimum, maybe that's why they tell no food, or only food from on-property.

Hope this helps!!! :boat:

I would have dinner first, then go on the cruise and hit a boardwalk stands afterwards for a fun snack. Nothing you could take would be as good as getting ice cream, crepe, candy store treat, or bakery treat -- in my opinion.
