food budget

I am going to print this entire thread for my DH!!!!!! We budget for the tickets, hotel down and back, souveniers, gas, snacks, etc. but food is where we are always off. We eat some CS but not much. We usually have 1-2 TS breakfasts during the stay and usually either TS for lunch OR Dinner everyday (so 1 meal is a CS/day). We spend anywhere from $145-200/day for the 4 of us. (DH, Me, DD9 and DD(2 today!)) and we usually stay for 5-6 days. He keeps saying we need to try to trim it and we probably could some, but he knows there's a lot of the same stuff (hot dogs, chicken, salad, sandwiches). Now, he knows all this..he just has the "wishful thinking-itis" syndrome! I can't wait to show him the posts so he knows it's not just me wanting to spend more money!

For our 5 night trip that we recently returned from I budgeted $300.00 for food. This was for myself, ds 11, & ds 8. We had breakfast in our room & ate a couple meals offsite. We had 3 table service meals at the parks & the rest counter service. I used the Allears site to help figure out how much money I would need. Worked out perfect, I was able to keep within my budget. The $300.00 did not include the snacks & breakfast items I bought for the room.

We just returned from an 8 night stay (me, DH, DS17, DD16). We ate a combination of counter service and sit down and had the DDE (20%) off discount. We spent just under $600 on food and snacks during our 8 night stay. We ate breakfast in the room every day but one and had snacks to so we weren't constantly buying something when we got hungry.

We just got back a week ago. We used the dinning plan and loved it. The 6 night stay dinning plan cost around $540 (me, dw, ds9 and dd5). I'm sure we would have spent twice that if we had not had the dinning plan package. The only time I used money was almost every morning we would eat breakfast in the room (pop tarts, ect.) and I would go to the food court to get milk. Can't use snack plan for milk. I would not want go back to Disney without the dinning plan.
