We are staying there for the first time in May and I am wondering if there are good dining options there or should we plan to head elsewhere for meals on our lazy non-park days? How is the counter-service food? We will have a 15-month old baby with us so I am guessing that Artist Point is out.

We stopped by Roaring Forks for a quick bite almost every evening when we stayed at WL in December 2003. We usually had lunch in the parks, and the parks close early in December, so it was very convenient for us to just stop by Roaring Forks after a day in the parks. Then we'd hang out in the gorgeous lobby drinking hot chocolate (in our refillable mugs, which are a great deal if you plan on eating at Roaring Forks much), enjoying the atmosphere and holiday performers.

The food at Roaring Forks was typical counter service, but everything was always fresh and tasty, and it was served up quickly. The little dining area was never too full, and it was always clean and well-stocked with condiments and utensils.

We never made it to Whispering Canyon, but I hear it's a really fun place.

We really enjoyed Roaring Forks. The service there was very good and the selection was plentiful. We wish we had tried out Whisperin' Canyon Cafe, though...next time for sure!

Enjoy this BEAUTIFUL resort! :flower:

We stayed there in July and DS had a grilled cheese sandwich from Roaring Forks every day. He is a very picky eater. Said it was the best grilled cheese he has ever had. DH and I had some very good soup from their as well. Might have been chili and lobster bisque.

We stayed in the villas and just didn't want to go do a sit down meal so we ordered take out from Whispering Canyon. Also ordered take out desserts from Artist Point.

I think we had wings (good), nachos (excellent), nutty chicken salad (excellent), apple pie (very good), and the berry cobbler from Artist Point (words cannot describe, but we ordered it more than once). Also had a very good pina colada from the bar in the lobby.

Did not have a bad meal at Wilderness Lodge. Would eat at any of these places again. If you really wanted to try Artist Point, make an early reservation. I think they opened at 4:30pm or so and the restaurant was basically empty. You could take your child and if it didn't work, just get the food boxed up and take it with you. That early, though, there wouldn't be a lot of other diners to disturb.

Enjoy

I love WL because everything is right there with not too much extra walking involved. Roaring Forks is not bad for counter service. The wraps were satisfying and no one complained about the burgers. I do like to have fresh cut fruit available and they do! It's great paired with a croissant!!! My oldest son who is a bottomless pit would always head down for an after dinner snack of a huge cookie and a milk. He would refill our mugs with chamomile tea which was a nice way to end a November evening.

We enjoyed WC for lunch one day and asked our waiter to kind of play it low-key. He complied and we enjoyed the antics from afar. The food was better than we expected! They have very generous portions.

We all do love Artists' Point. It is just a really quiet and kind of sophisticated dining experience after a hectic day in the parks. You might be able to pull it off with your little one. They do have kind of private corners where we dined with our kids. You know, half booth seats, half chairs. An early dinner is a good idea if you're willing to try it.

Enjoy your stay!

Artist Point is definitely not out! We took our 18mo baby there, but booked an early time... at 5 or maybe just before. There was only a few diners there. Whispering Canyon is great, too. You'll love the dining here!

WE love WL and eating there is easy and fun. We found Roaring Forks food to be hot tasty and great for a quick easy meal. WCC is loud and very active. DH & DS love it and I think it's just ok. As long as you little one would not be afraid of a lot of noise I would try it at least once. I also agree if your little one is pretty good at sit downs, get an eary Ps and try Artist Point. It is a much calmer meal. Another option for WL is to take the boat over to FW and eat at the Trail's End Buffet. Great simple food at really good prices!!
You are also only a short boat ride away from the CT where there is Cheif Mickey and several other choices. FRom the CT the monorail gets you to any of the monorail resorts in a matter of minutes. The chioces are so vast!!! WL also has room service if the little one is tired, put her to bed and dine in with hubby!!

Enjoy our favorite resort!!

We enjoy all of the restaurants at WL and plan on eating at each one of them on our upcoming trip. It's great because there is a quick and easy place, a casual sitdown, and a more formal sitdown, so you can choose what you're in the mood for. It's great to just hang out at the resort, and you will have no problem finding a good meal to eat there. We also really enjoy visiting the other MK resorts for meals too.
