food and wine must's

The Ireland kiosk is right next to what I called the R&C garden area, it's a shaded area with tables and chairs. If you're in the line for the Irish food you can't miss it. There isn't a day during F&W that we don't sit there for a relaxing drink and/or bite to eat.

Don't bother with the Dom Perinon...it's $30.00 a glass (or more, I don't remember) and I've had better wine from a $10.00 bottle from the grocery store.. just saying
We love champagne, our usual go to's are Moet and Veuve....Love Dom but I wouldn't spend $30 for a glass ....can't even imagine a $10 bottle of champagne being better but I'd be willing to give it a go :) Do you remember what it was you had?

We're hoping to go to this years food and wine fest as it's been a few years...loving all these suggestions here. We're hoping to do Party for the Senses while there. Did that a few years ago and it was very nice.

Wow thank you guy's, my mouth was watering as I read them. So its a definite on the pork slider then, and I like the sound of the lamb, beef, soup and the tacos and any desert on offer, I'm going to put on so much weight :rolleyes1 I've never tried lobster, are there any lobster dishes worth trying ?

OMG its not really dog is it ? don't think I would be brave enough to eat that if it is.:crazy2:

I can take or leave wine so I think I'll leave it and share a few beers and larger's with DH :drinking:

thanks cal :)

Yes, we were told it's Airedale. It's deelish with kimchee relish on top!

Part of me is hoping that we'll see many of the favorites return, and another part is hoping there is going to be something special for the 2015 F&W due to it being the 20th anniversary.

I didn't realize it was an anniversary year! Thanks for posting, I will hope along with you.

The only lobster I remember was a lobster tail and a sandwich at hops and barley - but seafood does pop up in Ireland as well so that may be somewhere to keep an eye on too. I believe last year the lobster tail was gone from the fest. And I do not like fish, but I do like crab and lobster. It sounds like a good idea to taste it at the festival! That way even if you didn't like it you have a lot more options!

Oh and I will add if they bring back the Brazil booth, they had some delicious additions! The cheese bread, so simple, but so wonderful.

Pretty sure the Seafood Pie in Ireland has lobster, but regardless, it's great.

No - haha! Scary thought, I guess, but it's a hotdog with kimchi and some other toppings.

What are the food prices and portions like? Is it a taste of food or a full entree?

Definitely not entree-sized, more like a small appetizer. The prices range from about $3 - $7-ish, with the average being about $4.75, I'd say. Small desserts are on the low side, and the lobster roll is $7-ish.

We have done F&W using the dining plan and found it a fantastic way to use snack credits. As stated the portions are more like sampling size so you can "Eat Around the World" without being stuffed especially if sharing with a partner. You might however find yourself broke if sampling food and drinks at all booths!

Must do: shrimp tacos in Mexico (they switched up the recipe last year but it was still great!), filet mignon in Canada (great use of a snack credit if on DP) and seafood pie in Ireland. Tried the escargot in France last year & really enjoyed . . . it always pays to try something different. But . . . I did keep my eyes wide shut while noshing on the escargot :-)

thanks for all your replies, much appreciated, I'm really looking forward to it,and glad it not real dog !

LOL. Thinking you are kidding with this. It's a mini hot dog with some heat. From a type of pickled/fermented cabbage or similar on top. Found at the Korea booth. I tried it a few years ago & its now a once & done kind of thing. It wasn't terrible but I'm just not a spicy food fan.
