I'm debating on getting a FP+ for this parade, we'll have 2 MK days while there, so this would take 1 of our 6 FP+'s.

If we don't get one, how is overall viewing for the parade? Where should we be, and how soon before the parade starts to get the best view?

Does getting a FP for it really improve seeing this parade overall?

1. Good anywhere along the route.
2. Great viewing deep in Frontierland or near Hall of Presidents.
3. I'd be at the above locations 45-60 minutes, or more, before start-time, depending on crowd-level.
4. I'd not say it will "improve seeing" it. I'd say "less crowded" compared to other locations.

We had a good view in Frontierland, we rode BTMRR and Splash and exited with perfect timing to see the parade. We also viewed it from the porch by the Heritage House. This was during early August, we did not have FPs for the parade and we did not line up more than 10/15 minutes beforehand. Basically, we were very lucky! If you want a front row spot, get there earlier.

There is a link to my trip report in my signature, and chapter 3 part 3 near the bottom has my pics from Frontierland, and Chapter 8 part 2 has pictures of the view from the liberty square area. That way you can see the view but you don't have to read the trip report if you don't want to :)

Good luck and I hope you find the solution that works best for your family!!

We did the same as the above poster - crossed the bridges in Frontierland (the one across from Country Bears) just as it was about to start - maybe 4-5 minutes before. My husband could have held my son up, but there was some space behind a stroller, so I sent my kids to stand behind it. Once the other parent saw that, he took his kid out, placed him in mom's lap, and moved the stroller to let my kids sit on the curb! Now, that was a really nice guy and not everyone will be so great, but even if he hadn't moved it, we could have held the youngest up for a fine view and the 7 year old could see fine, too.

If you decide on that area, keep checking the back of the parade route where they enter. The dragon breathed fire right when it got onto to the street, but couldn't when it got closer to the crowd b/c of the trees/buildings. I caught it, but the kids didn't.

We managed to catch it right after lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. (which we booked about an hour before as we were walking into MK) We were coming out as they were roping it off so we grabbed a spot right there. Excellent spot, wasn't terribly crowded. And great character interaction. (The 7 dwarves came and gave me a fist bump...it might have been a high five but they were also tripping over their feet...so who knows)

We usually watch the parade in Frontierland, near Splash Mountain. We never really have a problem finding a spot. There are plenty of great spots along parade route so you could save your FP+!

We saw it in the hub facing the castle. Got there shortly after 2. It was HOT sitting in the sun waiting for in Memorial Day week, but it was worth it. I got awesome pictures with the castle in the background.

Yeah, Frontierland. I was not expecting to get a good viewing spot based on the fact that they now offered FP for the parades, but about 10 minutes before the start when the honorary parade marshal family rides by, I noticed there was space right up by the rope outside of the Frontier Trading Post. So I had my kids fill that space and we had a great view of the parade (without staring into the sun) without having to hold a spot for an hour or use a FP.

This was on a level 9 day and was the second FoF parade of the day. So maybe having more than one FoF parade helped?
