Flying with Tide Pods

Has anyone flown with these? I am wanting to pack them for our trip but I'm worried about rupture. Thanks!

I would think that the packs would most likely rupture in checked luggage and you couldn't bring them in your carryons, due to restrictions on gels and liquids.

But if they wouldn't rupture, I would definitely double bag them in ziploc bags, as they could rupture from other luggage and improper handling at the airport, etc.

I haven't flown with them, but I think it would be fine if you put them in a baggie and put that baggie into a hard plastic container.

I packed ours in a small tupperware container (still in the original packaging, though, in case TSA went through our checked luggage). They survived the trip just fine

Put them in a baggie and stick them in a shoe that holds its shape and put it in your suitcase.

Do the WDW resorts use HE machines that front load? I can't remember.

I loved those Tide pods until they almost broke my HE machine. The plastic did not totally dissolve and a HUGE glob of it built up in the drain of my machine. I had to pull it out with needle nosed pliers. I don't use them anymore.

I don't want to use anything that might damage the machines at WDW.

You can put them in your carry on. Just put them in your quart size ziploc bag along with your other liquid/gel toiletries.

If you want to put them in your checked bags, put them in a ziploc bag. Then put that in something hard sided, like a small tupperware container.

I took them last trip. I placed them in a ziplock baggie, then placed the baggie in a tupperware container. The tupperware container ended up being useful to have with us for keeping snacks crispy in the Florida humidity. These went through the check through and they survived just fine. I was worried about them too, but would bring them again.

this is what I use...they are super easy to pack and light weight, and they have a nice sent. Now the smell reminds me of Disney!

I took tide pods last time and they did fine going there and back. I double bagged them in a ziplock and put them in my checked luggage. I didn't know how they would do but they did fine!

These are what we used too. I just stuck a few in a zip lock. They are just thin sheets, so take up very little room and easily fit in our carry ons. (We did carryons only).

Those Tide Pods must have ruined alot of HE machines. When I bought my new HE washer last summer, the salesman made a point of telling me to use only laundry detergents that were marked for HE washers and specifically said, "Do not use Tide Pods in it, as they are not actually made for HE washers. I can tell you from personal experience".

The ones I used said HE on them, but my machine did NOT handle them well. It's not even 2 years old yet, but anytime I've tried pod detergents or stain remover "boosters" they have often failed to dissolve completely in anything other than hot water, which I only use for linens. So, no more pods for me!

I now travel with the small pump of Method detergent. Perfect amount for vacation laundry needs.

The reason they don't dissolve is that those machines hardly use any water. I am certain the machines at Disney we the good old fashioned kind that cover your clothes with water the last time I did laundry there, but it has been a while.

I use the pods and I am planning to take them on our disney trip in 6 days! However... I use scissors to cut them open and discard the plastic. I learned the hard way when the plastic plugged up my water shut off valve and had a flooded laundry room. The repair man came and stated that the plastic only dissolves in HOT water. If you hold it while the water is filling up you'll see that it doesn't dissolve all the way. I feel as they are a good value, (26 pacs, 26 loads). They clean well too. So just keep a scissors by them and cut them open. You'll thank me later!

When we travel I hit the travel toiletries section at Target and pick up the individual packs of liquid Tide. I double Ziploc them and toss them in our checked luggage. We've never had a problem with them opening in transit.
