They didn’t rebook or credit us either, just cancelled with no notification. We were supposed to be flying out of Orange County but WestJet has now cancelled all their Orange County flights till after labour day. They left all of our other flights intact so I don’t know how they figured we were getting out of California to catch our Vancouver flight. We booked with travel points so I don’t even know that I’d have any recourse against WestJet at this point even though we lost our premium seating that we’d paid extra for. Infuriating to say the least. The self-serve options are garbage - no way to figure out why we have not been credited back for the flights they cancelled. And I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't just re-book us; there are multiple flights on each day and ones literally within 15 minutes of our original ones. Of course they are THREE TIMES the cost of the flights we originally booked so I guess there's no explanation other than cash grab. I will be making, shall we say, a robust objection to this, when I finally get a human being to talk to.
I've been on hold since 8:00 am but since I can easily do it while I sit here working, I plan to hang in there as long as it takes. I really need them to act reasonably and book us on the flights that are now available at no extra charge - there are at least 6 flights every day both ways between Calgary and Vancouver. They didn’t rebook or credit us either, just cancelled with no notification. I'd say that's not an unreasonable request. Hopefully your hold time isn't terribly long. RBC Rewards hold times are astronomical. I was on hold for 4 hours for the first call, 6 hours for the second and 4.5 yesterday. Hopefully no more flight changes to deal with. Good luck and keep us posted on how you make out!I've been on hold since 8:00 am but since I can easily do it while I sit here working, I plan to hang in there as long as it takes. Yep that’s what happened to us. We were booked into Orange County from Prince George with a connector at YVR and they cancelled us so now the only option offered is LAX. I’m so disappointed because I much prefer Orange County.West jet is at it again, moving flights. I decided today I would just book our flights for November so it was done. For years there has been the same flight from Nanaimo to Orange county with a layover in Vancouver that left in the morning and landed around 1pm. That flight no longer exists on their site![]()
Yup, Us too... Orange county so much easier and less stressful. Trying to decide if I should just book from YVR because that flight is still showing but if they end up cancelling that then Ill back to square one again... ahhhhhYep that’s what happened to us. Tough call. They’ve actually changed our flight twice now. The first change they had us coming home a day later than scheduled but still out of Orange County. The second change they cancelled our Orange County flight altogether and didn’t rebook us at all. When I called to rebook LAX was the only option for us. They must be phasing out their flights into Orange County for some reason. Too bad!Yup, Us too... Orange county so much easier and less stressful. Hope they bring them back.... LAX gives me an anxiety attack thinking about it...Tough call. They’ve actually changed our flight twice now. Ya it is weird, We can still book flights from YYJ to SNA or fly from Nanaimo the evening before with an overnight layover and goto SNA I just hope that they don't drop SNA because looking at flights because looking at flights out of YVR now to SNA they are not showing up till September 7th.Just checked our February 2022 flights today.
YYJ (Victoria) - YVR (Vancouver) - SNA (Orange County)
So far, so good. No changes to our itinerary
They keep pushing the YVR to SNA flights out. We originally booked Aug 26-Sept 4 in and out of SNA. First they cancelled rebooked us to fly into LAX and pushed the SNA return flights to Sept 5, then they cancelled again and pushed the SNA flights to Sept 7 so now we’re having to do LAX both ways. Not sure what they’re doing but it’s annoying as heck!!Ya it is weird, We can still book flights from YYJ to SNA or fly from Nanaimo the evening before with an overnight layover and goto SNA I just hope that they don't drop SNA because looking at flights because looking at flights out of YVR now to SNA they are not showing up till September 7th.
What are you doing for transport to and from the airport? They keep pushing the YVR to SNA flights out. We originally booked Aug 26-Sept 4 in and out of SNA. Westjet has a specific terminal at LAX for both arrivals and departures so if your connecting flight is Westjet also, you'll be fine. LAX to me is never much of a problem - like most mega-airports, as long as you're not changing airlines, everything is actually quite close. Where you get issues is if you're flying AC or Westjet and your connection in the States is on one of their code-share partners. Then you might have to haul it to get to another terminal. It’s been years since we’ve flown into LAX so I’m a bit nervous too!
We’re renting a car when we first arrive and driving to San Diego for a few days. Then my husband is coming home while my daughter and I do DLR. I haven’t decided how we’re getting back to the airport but likely Karmel or Lanskys? I usually Uber to SNA but I’m not sure about taking an Uber to LAX.What are you doing for transport to and from the airport?
Thank you for this! I usually Uber from SNA to my hotel. Do you have any suggestions for LAX? We’ll have a rental car when we arrive but DH is coming home sooner so it’ll be my daughter and myself having to get back to the airport. Where are you staying? If it's a chain hotel, it's possible they may have their own shuttle to LAX. We always have a rental but the one time I did DLR on my own without DH, we used this service. The bus was Disney-themed and the kids got a real kick out of it. It's not affiliated with DLR though and not the same as the Magical Express in WDW.Thank you for this! We're staying at the Desert Inn so no shuttle unfortunately. We've used that bus before though years ago before we discovered SNA! I didn't know it was still a thing but I'll check it out. Lansky quoted me $325 for return to and from Del Sol from LAX. Better than car rental at $475 plus parking..
