I've spent the last few hours going through the different forums for answers, but I think it's time to admit defeat and just ask my fellow Canadian Disers for some help!
We want to fly out of Buffalo to Orlando, Augest 27-September 2. What's my best plan for getting a good deal? Should I buy them the second they become available, or do the better fares come to those who wait? I don't want to risk them selling out and getting stuck with the higher-priced options. The cheapest prices for the days leading up to my dates are about $170 each way, pp. I keep reading about these great $89, and $69 fares people are getting... I want a cheap flight too!
Thanks everybody!
Sonia

Best prices I've seen, other than the occasional DING, is to book as soon as Southwest releases the dates. They're usually the cheapest on that day, then the prices go up by the next day. That's been my observation recently anyway.

Southwest prices start out low then go up pretty quick. Then as you get closer to the depart date if the planes don't sell out the prices drops. If you buy now at the higher price and the price does drop they will give you a credit for the difference.

You have to be flexible on your fly dates - if you can fly out on a thursday and come back on a friday for example you can usually get some good deals. We, girlfriend and I, are flying April 19th and returning 27th for $271.00 total.

A few months ago I booked my flight for May 6th through SW. I couldn't book my return because the dates were not open yet. AS soon as they opened the dates, they sold out in minutes. I had to book my return through US Air. I was afraid to wait for a DING because it was getting too close and SW flights were over 200 for our return trip. We did get a DING for the May 6th..$59.00.
Anyway SW often has DINGS but it is never a guarantee...I like to have my ducks in a row....tickets in hand.....way less stress! I was surprised at how many people were flying to Orlando from Buffalo...I couldn't believe how quick it sold out. I was checking every few hours...and I couldn't get in. Good luck!

sanbornangel....... what time is your flight we are flying out of Buffalo on the 7:20 am non-stop one.on May 6th

Thanks a lot for your responses, everyone! Now it's just a matter of checking site obsessively and snapping up those tickets the second they become available. :surfweb: Wish me luck!

Edited to add:
I just set my homepage to SW's booking page, so I can check every time I open a window. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but he'll appreciate it later, I'm sure.:thumbsup2
