flying SW in less than 2 weeks!!

Hello, help me answer some questions PLEASE!!!

How will I know if SW has changed our times?
I have our con. # and tried to look up our flight info, but it says that I have to call SW at 1800------.

I know that I have to print our papers out, but can't do that till the 24 hour mark before we go........ Is that right?

I did call and was going to ask them these questions, but the lady was really short with me and all I was able to ask her was about the boarding passes... I have a 2 and 4 year old also 9 and 12 year old and then the hubby and myself so I asked if I had to have a "A" boarding pass for some of us or if we get to all pre board and she said that we can all go on together and not to worry about printing boarding passes. ?!?!

I haven't flown in over 10 years and not on SW........ so tell me all you can so I don't feel so lost!!

you can print your boarding pass 24 hours before your flight. they preboard families with children < 4 ,

Most of the folks at SWA are great; sounds like you got a sour lemon when you called them. The airline should call you if your itinerary changes, but that does not always happen. Make sure they have correct contact information for you. And you can check on-line. But calling might be best. Just ask to speak with someone else if you get another “sourball”!

You should print out your pass if at all possible. And yes, 24 hours is the cutoff. Try to print the passes out as close to this timeframe as you can. It is just much less stressful to get done what you can ahead of time. You have 2 “little” little ones and that means you should be able to pre-board. When you get to the airport, ask one of the SWA reps what the cut-off age for pre-boarding is for children. It is usually five and under. When you get to the gate, you will see an A line, a B line and C line and a pre-boarding line. Pre-boarding is for kids traveling alone, (usually) kids under 5 traveling with parents and disabled folks. But you need a boarding pass regardless of where you end up.

SWA is a great airline and I think you will enjoy it. Be sure to double-check on the new rules for carry-on luggage (they have changed a bit in 10 years! ) and note that your checked-in luggage cannot weigh over 50 pounds each. Try to relax and enjoy yourself! It is not as complicated as it sounds! Good luck!

One of the many reasons I love SW is the great customer service. But it sounds like you happened to get a bad one. Sorry about that.

The easiest way I know to check for time changes on your flight is to try and buy a ticket on it. Go to www.southwest.com , select book-a-flight, then put in your cities and day of travel.

But I wouldn't worry too much. SW almost never changes flight times and will call you if they do assuming you have a number on tap.

You do want to check in at the 24-hour mark before your flight. There should't be a problem with your whole family pre-boarding together, but it's best to have A passes in hand just in case.

Thanks for filling me in! My hubby is asking me some ?? and I have to tell him that I will look into it, or he could!! He flies quite a bit, but it's always with the military so he doesn't have to follow all the rules!

I will defently have to watch what we pack in the big bag so it's not over 50 pounds!

The 50-pound regulation is a drag, because most luggage weighs a lot BEFORE you pack it! But the airlines have been sticking to it. So, I've been weighing our luggage before we leave to make sure it is okay. Sounds goofy, but the extra fees are steep and I have no wish to give the airlines extra cash when I'm heading to WDW!

Every trip HOME from WDW (except for our last trip--I can be taught new tricks!) found us at curbside check-in with the guy telling us we'd exceeded our 50-pound limit. So, there we would be: me, DH, and DDs with me pulling stuff out of the overweight bag and shoving it into any other bag we could (including the plastic shopping bags which already held some overflow!!

So, word to the wise: Leave some room, or carry an extra soft bag with you to cart home all the great stuff you leave the World with--it's coming Back that that 50-pound rule can really get you!

I've been flying SW for the past 6 yrs and they have never changed my flight times. I wouldn't worry about that.

We weigh our luggage before leaving as well , i routinely check in with 49lb bags .
