Do I need any sort of identification or anything when flying Southwest with kids? I read somewhere, unofficial, that I only needed their boarding passes since we are all flying together, but I want to be prepared just in case.

Thanks!

Children under 18, by law, are not required to present ID. So, relax. Just the boarding passes. Your TSA reviewer may question your kids, like aking what's their name, or where they are going. Don't worry. I have never had an issue with taking my kids through airport security.

No ID required, but make sure you check in right at the 24 hour point so there are no issues of finding seats together.

If you are flying with a lap child you will need to how proof of age -birth certificate, passport, immunization records etc. even if they are obviously under two you need to bring it or run the of having to buy a full price ticket for te child or not flying.

Nope, all you need are the boarding passes. Security may ask them their names or some funny little questions, but no documentation required. We have the passport cards and usually take them with us. We have never needed them, just over cautious I guess.

Only if you get some kind of fare based on age or have a lap child like a previous poster said. I have flown Southwest with my children a few times. Once before I had my son and 3 times since I had my son. The first time we flew with my son he was 10 months old and I had booked him as a lap child at first, but then decided to get him a seat. The fares had increased to the point where the agent on the phone suggested an infant fare because it would be cheaper and she told me I needed his birth certificate to prove he qualified for that fare.

Unless you have something like that going on, you’re good.
