Flying Solo at WDW

Well, I got home a few days ago and am suffering major WDW withdrawal. It's gotten so bad that I just booked one of the seven-for-four specials for the end of March, 2009. This time hubby gets to come with me!

I enjoyed my solo trip much more than I'd anticipated. I suppose I knew deep down that it'd be great.

Some highlights:
  • During lunch at the Plaza at MK, one of the Main Street characters (forgot her name) came in and distributed Birthday Buttons to everyone who has a birthday in November. I got one, and for the rest of the trip friendly cast members and guests alike wished me a Happy Birthday at every turn. Fun!
  • It's nice to play photographer for families whose photos would otherwise be missing a member. Everyone took me up on my offer to snap their pictures for them.
  • For a mid-day break at DHS, I saddled up to the bar at 50s Prime Time for dessert. No reservation needed, and the bar tender and other patrons were very engaging and talkative. I quipped that only at 50s Prime Time can you escape the noise and harassment by bellying up to a bar!
  • The single-rider line at Rock 'n Rollercoaster was fantastic. Even at the busiest parts of the day, and with a FastPass, I walked right into the studio pre-show, bypassing a 45-minute standby line.
  • Eating dinner at the bar at the Signature Restaurants was a great way to have a great meal without needing a reservation.
  • The Backstage Magic tour was a great thing to do solo, as after the first half hour or so (and especially after lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe) mingling with the other guests was easy.
I still prefer to travel as a couple, but traveling solo yielded many wonderful times.

I haven't gone solo lately but on 2 previous solo visits I met 2 VERY FRIENDLY CMs (one at Epcot, the other at the Studios) who made my trip VERY MAGICAL indeed!!!:rolleyes1

Expect the unexpected when you travel solo! Lots of fun and even a little romance can come your way! Be prepared!

I live in Orlando and I go to the parks solo quite often. Sometimes I browse all the merchandise shops. Sometimes I will look up old pics from the parks (like MK in the 70's and EPCOT in the 80's) online and then take a pic in the same spot. Kinda neat to see how things have changed. ::yes::

That sounds really cool, I may do that myself, thanks for the idea. :thumbsup2
