I was thinking about taking Jet Blue out of NYC this year, but wasn't sure whether to choose LaGuardia or JFK. Does anyone have any insight?

I use JFk and LGA regularly when I go on vacation some times I fly out of one and into another depending on flight times that work for me. I personally don't have a issue with either one I would say check the flights and fly based on what flight times work for you.

If you can travel mid week and or fly out on one of the earlier flights I would highly recommend it. I have never had any issues at jfk, lga or newark. I usually fly out of newark because continentals hub is there. jet blue does have some flights out of newark as well.

I highly reccomend LGA. Do not get involved with JFK.

The problem for the original poster is Jet blue only has 2 flights a day out of LGA (I am assuming OP is going to MCO) where there are maybe ten flighs a day out of JFK. I think you should fly out of what ever airport has the best flight times .

I realize that, have flown out of LGA many many times.
I still believe the op would be much better of at LGA and and choosing from the 2 flights (if the op is flyning into MCO)

I don't agree JFK is not that big of a deal to fly out of. I fly out of both. we will have to agree to disagree.

Depending on where you are, have you considered White Plains. They have great non-stop flight times both to and from MCO. We are seriously considering going out of there instead of Hartford since Delta fares are extremely high at this point.

I am near Albany and the SW flights are starting to get ridiculously high. I was looking for an alternative and thought maybe we could spend the night in NYC and see a few sights combined with cheaper tickets to MCO.

The cost to drive to NYC, parking for the duration of your vacation and a hotel room for even one night is likely to wipe out whatever money you save on airfare.

You'll probably get better fares and flight times if you book a Jet Blue flight out of JFK.

Coming out of Albany why not EWR? Granted continental will be the airline of choice but you could easily drive down, park then get on the plane in the same day. No need for hotel

They coulld easily do it in one day using LGA or JFK, the OP posed they would see a few signts and stay overnight, not just comming down for a flight

Agreed but White Plains or EWR is an easier drive then LGA or JFK.

I agree. The only reason I mention how difficult it can be at JFK, is because JB has 9 flights out of JFK every day and that's just one airline going to MCO the backups can be horrible.
I remember one time, we were # 32 to take off.

I don't really prefer one airport over the other. You just have to see which airport has the cheapest flights and the best times for you.

Also, have you looked at Delta? My mom just got the cheapest deal for a flight in Febuary going on Delta from LGA.

Coming from near Albany, your best bet would be Jet Blue out of Newburgh NY (SWF). it's about an hour and fifteen minutes from Albany and right off the thruway. It's a nice small airport with direct flights to Orlando. I would never go near the city airports again if they had more direct flights here. Long term parking is very reasonable as well.

:laughing:Last week I flew Jet Blue from NYC to MCO. I flew out of JFK and back into LGA. There are pros and cons of both. I found the JFK Jet Blue terminal to be a madhouse....the bag drop lines and the security lines were bananas. However, once I got through that, the terminal is lovely, much nicer than LGA.

A previous poster mentioned JFK can get backed up in terms of takeoff. Well, I fly out of LGA almost twice a month, and the back up there can be crazy as well. They also seem to have ground stops super-frequently.

For me, LGA is a closer cab ride to my apartment, so it was good to return there.

In other words...it's pretty much a toss up.
