We're planning on flying home from Disney on Christmas, late afternoon. Do you think travel on this day is crazy? I'm not sure what to expect. We were going to come home Christmas Eve but then thought why not go for 11 days instead of 10:idea: My kids said waking up Christmas morning at Disney would be cool as long as Santa knows we're there:)

I think that on actual christmas day travel is pretty light. Its christmas eve and the weekends that are the killers!

Did this a few years ago. Very light travel day!

Light travel day but try to eat before you go. Many places are closed for the holiday even in airports. You can usually get a much better price flying on Christmas than any day near it.

Personally I would just take a gift from Santa for the hotel and have the rest at home for when they get there. Could include a note from Santa saying as much to be left with the small gift. Otherwise to much to transport both down and home. This comes form years of traveling at Christmas.

I don't know your family situation...but I think flying on Christmas eve might be crazy, but if necessary I would do it as late as possible(ie if you really wanted to be home for Christmas Morning)...otherwise I would wait to travel on Christmas Day, flights will be much lighter.

We did Christmas morning at WDW this past year and my boys who are 8 loved it(they really got into Santa coming in through the balcony doors etc). We also got on a tree exchange and that was a lot of fun too

Christmas is usually a great flight day. But it does get a little busy for night flights when December 26 is a work day.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think we're going to plan on coming home :santa: Christmas instead of Christmas Eve.

I flew on Christmas Day this year (to Florida rather than from Florida) and it was much less crowded than other years when we've flown on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day. Given the choice, I'd much rather fly on Christmas Day - plus you can try to see Santa out the window (whilst he is on his way back to the North Pole).
