Flying into JFK. Best budget area to stay for a weekend?

I know it's been asked before but I'm finding it all confusing!! I wish I could afford to just stay right in the city!

It's a girls trip so I don't want to waste tooo much time travelling but I don't mind anything up to 30 mins into the city by some sort of public transportation.

Any suggestions?

Secaucus is where we usually stay. There are a bunch of hotels surrounding a mall and parking is free. Buses leave to the city frequently and are quick. If you have a large group you might consider driving in and paying the tunnel toll and parking. Try ICON Parking for deals. For the hotel use Priceline or Hotwire.

try hotwire, my sister got a hotel right in times square for 159 per night. Good luck,

We won't be driving at all. There will just be 2 or 3 of us and we're flying from Buffalo.
