Hi,

Would like to know if anyone has flown with Globespan from Belfast or Glasgow. I'm interested in getting some feedback on them. Hoping to use them (a lot) as I've just become a DVC member. Planning first SSR trip for Oct/Nov but I'm unable to book return flight, as timetable not released.

Welcome toDVC!

Read this:

It concerned me when I read it on Sunday and since then we have cancelled. Do a search either on these boards or
www.thedibb.co.uk

Good luck with the flights and enjoy DVC!

One snippit of info, Globespan used to own another airline called Excallibur, sure others can ellaborate on this.

Have used them on numerous occasions on European flights and they all have been great. Also flew to Orlando with them June last year and I can honestly say it was one of the best flights I have had across the pond with any airline and I have been going since 1989.Although they do seem to be having a few problems plane wise at the moment but we are using them again June 16th and I have no worries concerning this. And by the way the deal we got from them for Mystic Dunes was fantastic just over 3 grand for 6 adults and 1 child :cool1:

I think you need to look at the trip planning forum with regards to their abysmal record at the moment.
Thursdays flight still hasn't arrived at Sanford, and is being done by a 737-800 no IFE, no buisness class.
The Sanford passengers have been waiting since Wednesday evening to get home, their delayed flight should have been back in Glasgow at 11:40, but as the flight in has not yet arrived, they will be home at some time tonight.

this is the same problems they had with the 39 hour delay last weekend!

Then again, the TCD flight from Sanford to Gatwick scheduled for this morning now won't return until tomnorrow morning.

But you pay for what you get.

SSR trip for Oct/Nov but I'm unable to book return flight, as timetable not released.

We had originally booked with Globespan flying out 30th October. When I contacted them they were unsure whether or not they would be offering return flights in November.

After all of the negative experiences I have read on the Dis lately I'm really glad I cancelled and booked with BA.

I flew with Globespan to Sanford last year and they were excellent. Best flight to Florida I have had, we even left 40 minutes early on return journey. Booked to go with them again on July 1st.

like most airlines they seam to have ther problems,TCD used to be bad when they were caled libbity travel.

TCD still having problems.
On the Sanford-Gatwick route, Fridays flight XLA121 arrived this morning at 08:58 and the saturday arrival flight XLA125 scheduled for 08:15 has no arrival time yet.

whilst not a Florida flight the Globespan Hamilton-Glasgow-Gatwick flight is five hours late at the moment. Seems GSM are having major problems this weekend again.

Tartan tigger,
Fingers crossed that they have the extra 757's onboard by then

If you go on to any of the pilot forums on the net and have a look at what pilots think of this company maybe more would think twice about flying with them, personally they look like an unreliable load of rubbish.

And as no one else has ellaborated on my excalibur comment, excalibur was an airline running flights from the UK to Orlando in the 1990s, they went bankrupt leaving people stranded in Orlando, the last flight they had the pilot pulled the plane up on the runway and refused to take off due to severe problems with it, there had been a number of incidents in a very short period of time, anyway guess who was the parent company of this airline that was allowed to go bankrupt leaving passangers in Orlando, it was an edinburgh travel agents company who just so happen to be have been called Globespan Travel. (yes I was one of the many abondened passangers, personally I loved every minute of it, I was only 21 years old at the time and had plenty of plastic to get hame with if needed, though some others found the situation far more distressing, I was even interviewed by the local news at the airport as we were the first days worth of passangers to be affected, If I remember rightly I think th flight was only £120 or so into Orlando International),

I had booked with Globespan to fly 30/8 and have now cancelled because of all the problems they are having. When I called today I was advised that I should have a 767 on the day I fly, but if they were having problems with the aircraft they could change my booking and I would have a full refund. I then decided I couldn't just keep my fingers crossed hoping all would be okay so I have cancelled and booked through direct holidays premier gold. I have lost 1 day of my holiday but have now peace of mind despite loosing my deposit. I flew premier gold last year and cannot recommend the service enough. I would have booked with them first, but when I booked in February the prices were higher and I did want to go for 15 days.
