Flying from vancouver

We are flying out of Vancouver, BC connecting thru lax on our way to Orlando. Does anyone know if we clear customs before leaving Vancouver? I seem to think we do but I have only ever flowed once to the US and it was a direct flight. I'm worried we might have to claim our bags in LAX and send them off but we only have an hour layover. It would be great to hear some experience on this.

I haven't been to Orlando yet but when we went in March to Disneyland, we flew from Vancouver to Orange County with a 2-3 hour stopover in Seattle. We cleared customs in Vancouver. We didn't have to claim our bags in Seattle. I am guessing it would be the same.

You'll pre-clear customs in Vancouver. Just double check when you are checking your bags at the airline counter that they are tagged all the way to Orlando.
