Flying Fish Reviews?

For what it's worth, when you do mobile check in for your ADR, you may have an option to add an additional person. I noticed it when we checked in.
Thanks! That helps a lot. Steakhouse does the same thing. We have it booked on our HS night. Its our most anticipated reservation; can’t wait for more reviews. We will be giving up watching fantasmic (looks like it’s getting ready to open; but I forgot to account for what ifs when booking ADRs).

You're welcome, and enjoy it! I know we can't wait to go back.

We just got back from Princess race weekend and ate at FF last Friday. I hope it was a one-off because our meal was really disappointing. This is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW so I was really bummed--especially at the exorbitant prices. I had the lobster bisque (normally my favorite) and it was lukewarm and not as flavorful as I remembered. My main was the scallops and it felt as if the meal had been plated a long time ago and reheated. Except that it was also lukewarm. My husband and daughter were disappointed with their meals as well. I hope someone posts with better reviews or we might not be going back :( I have to say that in general the food at WDW was noticeably not as good, the prices were higher, and the portions were smaller.

Did anyone have the potato wrapped snapper? We were looking to get that or the steak and lobster soup. Anyone get desserts?

No on the potato wrapped snapper. My daughter had the smoked salad to start and the scallops as well. I can't remember what my husband had. No desserts just drinks :)

We did FF the weekend before Valentine's (DH and myself). We LOVED the experience but the meal itself wasn't fantastic. Our waiter was excellent, we enjoyed good conversation with him, he had good suggestions and made sure the meal was well paced. He really did make the experience. He was a foodie so we went back and forth with food suggestions and great meals in the area.

For apps, we ordered the grilled romaine salad. It was really nice and tasted fresh, but we make the same at home and it's just as good. We also ordered their pork belly app. The server proactively asked if we were splitting the aps and had them split them in the kitchen, so that was great. So the pork belly app...VERY good but it was no Bacon and Eggs from the Wave/SH71. We got talking about that with the server and next thing you know Chef Tim was at our table. He hadn't had the Bacon and Eggs either :rotfl:. The visit with the Chef was a highlight! And to their credit their pork belly seemed a little better quality or at least our piece was that night, it wasn't overly fatty. When the Chef came out, he brought us out a little lobster bisque to try, it was excellent.

For our entrees, DH had the NY strip and added a lobster tail. I had the Seafood Pearl Pasta and added the Octopus. DH really like the potato gratin, cauliflower was good, but he wasn't fond of the steak. NY Strip wouldn't normally be his pick, but he felt like the filet wouldn't have been large enough for his appetite that evening. The seasoning on the steak was kind of odd, I tasted it too...I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was different and too salty. His lobster tail and the lobster in my seafood pasta were both tough and chewy. My seafood pasta was average. I enjoyed the scallops the most, if we go back I'd most likely order the scallop dish instead. I had never tried Octopus before, but was willing to give it a shot. The waiter talked it up and said how good it was and how it would melt in your mouth. It wasn't slimy and the taste was pretty good (reminded me of shark), but it was tougher and more chewy that I thought it would be, I thought it may have been overcooked, but I'm no expert.

For dessert we shared the Cocoa Breach. That was a 10 out of 10.

In summary, it was a good not great meal with a fantastic waiter. For the money, I don't know if we'd repeat it. I could definitely see us going back and doing the bar for drinks, app and dessert.

Ate there last night. Had the fillet. Thought it was fantastic. Also had great meals at California Grill and Yachtsman’s. I will agree on the price issue. All meals seem to be a bit pricier than I recall from the past.

Have any of the old staff returned to Flying Fish? There was a very professional bartender there, a tall gentlemen whose name was Bill if I remember right, who had been there for many years and always seemed to always be behind the bar when I was there.

Don't know if he was there. We dined there in April and it was as good as always.

Bill is still there! He is indeed a pro, as well as a super nice, gregarious guy. A real asset to what is already one of the best restaurants on property.
Ah, good to hear! Glad he got through the COVID year, which was bad for all of us but especially bad for service workers.

After being at DW for two weeks, a lot of restaurants lost a step and were disappointing. Flying Fish hasn't missed a beat. We ate there twice and it was phenomenal both times. If there is a better restaurant on property right now, I am not sure where it is.

Did you happen to stop by Shula's to see if they had lost a step? Flying Fish and Shula's are my two faves in the Boardwalk area.

We had dinner at Flying Fish on Wednesday night. I had heard wonderful reviews for this restaurant and thought we would try it. I was very disappointed with the lobster bisque. It had a spice that dominated the flavor of the soup. I really didn't care for it. Otherwise, dinner was fine, but we won't be back.

When we had it years ago it tasted like it had an earthen flavor (cooked in a clay pot) which we loved. Or was this something else?

It was a spice, possibly tarragon, that was the dominant flavor. Maybe it was just a bad night for this soup.
