Flyglobespan Would You Book

We flew with them in August 2006, when they had just opened up their Glasgow - Orlando route. Flight, price everything was good!

That said, just priced flights for next August, more than twice what I paid (I know I know, it was in 2006!) last time, and the extra luggage allowance you can buy has shot up in price! Add to this having to pay to check your bags in, paying to choose your seat, paying for some extra baggage allowance to top up the miserly 20kgs/person you're given.... may as well bite the bullet and go with Virgin!

We wont be flying with them again, when they were cheaper than everyone else, it made complete sense, it just doesn't now, sorry to say...

We have flown with them once last year. The return journey was great, no delays no problems or anything - however going to Orlando was a bit of a saga:

We were delayed about 15 hours, but it wasn't Globespan's fault and they actually treated us really well. Basically they landed in Glasgow with a crack in the windscreen which had to be fixed before we could go again. I was very sceptical at first but it was genuine and the plane was grounded the whole time (I kept going and checking!). My brother is cabin crew for Thomsons so I checked with him the timeframe for this sort of thing and it was about right. They provided all of us with a free 3 course lunch and dinner in the Holiday Inn across from the airport and we just hung around the hotel until we were ready to go. They also let us call our hotels and carhire companies in Orlando from their phones to let them know of the delays.

Seemingly the problem was (don't know if this is still correct) that Flyglobespan only has one plane that flies transatlantic so if something goes wrong you have to wait it out.

All in all though, we found the flights to be great and the service we recieved through the problems was good. They told us early on about the problems so everyone knew what was happening which is always a plus and they kept us updated throughout the day of the progress and estimated time of departure - which they got right.

I was sceptical about flying with them transatlantic at first as I'd heard some mad stories and even though we had a terrible delay we felt ok about the service we recieved and the flights were fine. We flew their business class which was good, not as good a American or BA but fine for the cost.
