Flyglobespan - to change or not?

We booked with flyglobespan over a year ago, my holiday that was so full of excitement has now turned into anticipation as we leave in 2weeks and 6days. Fingers crossed now.

flyglobespan have been cutting schedules all summer, a sure sign that things are difficult, I really wouldn't expect them to fail in the next few weeks but who can say? :confused3 If they go I would expect it to be during the winter months once their canadian programme stops.
PLEASE do not panic, clients abroad during airline failure are still getting home, its not the end of the world. The CAA, ABTA and ATOL will ensure yo get back, don't let the thought of it ruin yor holiday.

Hi Carol

Sorry I obviously go around with my eyes half shut but everyone seems to know your name apart from me . . . you work in the travel industry by the sounds of it?!

Anyway sorry for hijacking this thread, but do you know anything about Dreams Unlimited? I have booked my cruise through them for May 09 but am now having kittens that I should just have booked with Disney direct as there was barely any price difference, and I trust Disney not to go out of business!!!!! Do you think they are OK. . . ?! Thanks for any help you can give, I was trying not to give into paranoia and worry about it, but I have cracked!!!!!

thanks everyone,as long as they are still around to get us there.and getting us back would be a bonus.
ive read they were in a loss of £13m last year but are set to make a profit this year,so they can't be the worst surely.

Course I don't mind you asking, as far as I'm aware Dreams Unlimited are a Us based company that deal solely with Disney, as Disney are pretty much self sufficient I would guess that DU are ok, I have no idea what would happen with a US based company as far as money is concerned if they go into bankruptcy but I'm sure Disney would honour any booking.
The major problem with XL was NOT their Florida products, thet had a huge greece/turkey/cyprus programme that really brought them down with the weakening of the Pound/Euro.
Please do NOT be alarmed and allow it to spoil your holiday, you can only keep going and hope for the best.

Thanks for answering, thats really kind. I feel a bit calmer!! I'm in a lot better position than most people I know.

I hope all those people who were booked with the companies in trouble have had some luck getting sorted XX

If you have booked a DCL cruise through Dreams, your money has gone direct to Disney. Presumably you will have paid with a credit card - if you check your statement you'll see the payment has actually been taken by DCL, not by Dreams, even though it was Dreams you supplied credit card details to. So if anything did happen to Dreams, you still have your cruise.

When booking through a US travel agent that is something you need to make sure happens because they don't have an equivalent to ABTA or ATOL. So if you give money to the TA and they go out of business, you have no comeback.

We fly out with Globespan 7 weeks tomorrow. Had a few worries over the last week. However we paid around 2 weeks ago, so now just have to hope for the best. Interesting article in Sunday Herald a week ago saying they were on course for a profit this year, but they have cut back their Glasgow Orlando flights significantly this winter from 5 per week to 1. For next year think i'll be going with Continental or back with Virgin.
I've noticed now that BA don't have a Gatwick - Glasgow flight till 15:55 which means a bit of a wait for those travelling with Virgin.

Goofy68,

Icelandair also run a twice weekly service from Glasgow to Sandford via Rekjavik. I have not used them myself, but my cousin used them all the time to fly Glasgow / Boston when she was at MIT. She thought they were great.
